As markers go, Celtic certainly sent a message out to the rest of the league yesterday as they produced a scintillating display of football to crush St Johnstone 7-0. Title rivals Rangers kick off their season away to Killmarnock and won't want a gap to appear already.
This is not Steve Clarke's Kilmarnock and it's a club in transition with players away and a new manager trying to impose his style of football. Don't expect Killie to be anywhere near the levels they were at last season.
Kilmarnock vs Rangers (KO 1.30pm)
Steven Gerrard's men did not enjoy their matches against Killie last season with the Ayrshire side being a real thorn in their side.
Much of Kilmarnock's success was down to Clarke but with him leaving to manage Scotland it's up to untried Italian Angelo Alessio to try and continue the club's revival.
It's been a horrible start having been embarrassingly knocked out of the Europa League by Welsh minnows Connah's Quay and already their is pressure on the new manager.
Rangers have recruited well and have had a good pre-season and Europa league campaign – they should win this comfortably against a much-weakened Kilmarnock side.
Recommended Bet
- Rangers and over 1.5 goals
- 1/1 (Betfair) (NAP)
William Hill
1st Half Rangers Corners
2-3 @ 5/4
Over 3 @ 2/1
Example £40 on 2-3 and £50 on Over 3 would return your total stake if they only manage 2 or 3 first half corners and give you £60 profit if they get more than 3.
Posted this on the main tips too but thought I’d post here as well as it was Greg’s tip that made me find it:
Rangers to win both halves @ 9/2 (was 15/8) with William Hill – one of their price boosts
Good luck
