IT was two winners from four for Alan on Friday as his James Tate double did the business.
He's backing Saaheq to extend Mick Appleby's hot streak on Saturday and also has picks from five Kelso races.
Chelmsford 7.0
SAAHEQ can maintain Mick Appleby’s good run by landing the 6f handicap at Chelmsford City. His gelding was quite impressive when coming home clear of Dynamo Walt and Boom The Groom here over five furlongs last month, with the third horse going on to edge out Shamshon at Wolverhampton. Saaheq is up 6lb and has an extra furlong to go this evening but he may remain a step ahead of the handicapper.
Kelso 2.15
TONTO’S SPIRIT made a highly satisfactory chasing debut when making hot-pot Destrier pull out the stops at Ayr and is worth chancing against southern challenger El Terremoto. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ market leader possesses plenty of ability but has fallen on his last two starts.
Kelso 2.45
BLACK CORTON can give the excellent Bryony Frost a winner at Kelso. Paul Nicholls has sent his chaser north in search of a confidence-boosting victory after Black Corton has twice finished runner-up against Calipto at Ascot and Top Notch at Kempton. Grand National hero One For Arthur has surprisingly yet to complete this season, so course winner Captain Redbeard is the one to beat.
Kelso 3.15
GETAWAY TRUMP has been well-touted for Cheltenham, so it is something of a surprise to see him turn up in the Edinburgh Gin Premier Novices’ Hurdle so close to the festival. The Nicholls-trained raider was given a negative ride when a running-on fourth to classy Al Dancer at Ascot and may be better judged on his second to Cheltenham-bound Champ in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury. Consistent Rouge Vif will be no pushover.
Kelso 3.55
WESTERN RULES was a 19 lengths winner here last time and is capable of landing fairly short odds.
Kelso 5.05
SEEMORELIGHT represents the Sandy Thomson/Rachel McDonald combination and they should go close in the 2m 6f handicap hurdle. Seemorelights was out of his depth when a not disgraced fourth to Ballymoy at Haydock before Christmas and the 10lb he receives from favourite Aye Right just sways the vote. Aye Right was an expensive second here last month and I’m reluctant to go in again.

going with ian williams KT Oneill, FIRST CALL 5/1.
over this trip off 42, he was 3rd to two horses both with 3lb claimers, these horses went on to win off 75 and 72, he runs off 49, 7lbs higher for that effort having failed the last twice out at wolves over 7 and 9f. 5 nuggets. with lulu 10s now ew value.
