Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Crystal Palace
English Premier League. Kick-off: 7.45pm, Wednesday 2nd December.
WOLVES have the talent and temperament to take on the finest sides in England, as they proved with that stunning 3-1 win over Spurs at Wembley on Saturday.
Nuno Espirito Santo's men have also drawn with Arsenal and Manchester City, underling their ability to go toe to toe with any team in the Premier League.
But they are also prone to an off day, as illustrated by 2-0 home defeats to Huddersfield and Watford when many punters will have backed them for a win.
So which Wolves will show up against Crystal Palace when the fans flock to Molineux for their first game in 2019?
The bookies think it will the slick side that has earned so many admirers as 888 Sport make the home team evens for a win over Palace, the 3/1 outsiders.
The draw is 47/20 and that might attract a few punters given Palace beat Manchester City 3-2 on their last road trip.
But Roy Hodgson's men haven't scored a goal in their last two games, drawing 0-0 at home to Cardiff before being edged out 1-0 by Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
That sums up Crystal Palace's biggest problem all season and it could pay to back another blank in Wolverhampton which is 7/5 with 888 Sport. Doubling that with a Wolves win will get you odds of 43/20 which is also well worth considering.
Adama Traore's searing pace and trickery has caught my eye for Wolves this season but he went off injured against Spurs and may miss out here.
Ivan Cavaleiro has three goals for the season and could be due another here for the Molineux side. The Portuguese forward is 21/4 for first scorer with 888 Sport and 23/10 to net at any time.
For a decent longer-odds pick try Wolves full-back Matt Doherty who has also chipped in with three goals this term. The Irishman is 15/1 to break the deadlock and 15/2 for anytime scorer.
Recommended bets
- Crystal Palace not to score 7/5 (888 Sport)
- Ivan Cavaleiro anytime scorer 23/10 (888 Sport)
