Motherwell vs Kilmarnock
SPFL Premiership. Kick-off: 3pm, Wednesday 26th December
FESTIVE cheer has been thin on the ground at Fir Park after Saturday's dreadful defeat to St Mirren made it just one win in six games for Motherwell.
It looked like Stephen Robinson's men had turned a corner earlier this month when they ended St Johnstone's eight-game unbeaten run with a surprise victory at McDiarmid Park.
But they followed up a heavy defeat at Celtic Park by slipping up at home to the Buddies and that means the heat is on for the Boxing Day visit of Kilmarnock.
Motherwell are now just six points ahead of second-bottom St Mirren and another defeat here could drag them into a relegation battle.
It's vital they stop the rot the soon but in-form Kilmarnock could have too much class for Well and look good value at 8/5 with 888 Sport for an away win. If you want to lengthen those odds a little, try backing Killie to win while keeping a clean sheet, which is 3/1.
The Rugby Park side remain in the mix at the top of the table and have the measure of Motherwell, having beaten them 3-1 in Ayrshire earlier in the season.
It also finished 1-0 to Steve Clarke's men when they last came to Fir Park in February and a repeat scoreline may appeal here at 13/2 with 888 Sport. This doesn't have the makings of a classic so it could also pay to back both teams not to score, which 888 Sport price at 4/5.
Eamonn Brophy scored in the weekend draw with Hamilton and looks great value at 7/1 to open the scoring here with 888 Sport. He's also 16/5 for anytime score which seems very generous.
Curtis Main scored Motherwell's consolation in their defeat at Rugby Park and looks their best bet for a strike in this game too. The Englishman is 13/2 to break the deadlock and 14/5 for anytime scorer.
Recommended bets
- Kilmarnock to win 8/5 (888 Sport)
- Both teams not to score 4/5 (888 Sport)
