Hibernian vs St Mirren
SPFL Premiership. Kick-off: 7.45pm, Wednesday 5th December.
A SLUMP will turn into a full-blown crisis at Hibs if they fail to get back on track with a win against St Mirren.
It's now six games without a win for Neil Lennon's men after crashing to a 3-0 defeat at Kilmarnock on Saturday.
I fancied Hibs to turn it around at Rugby Park, given their excellent recent record against Steve Clarke's men.
But they let me down badly and turned in their worst display of the season, looking a shadow of the swashbuckling side that had earned so many admirers in the first few months of the campaign.
Despite that, they remain hot 2/5 favourites with 888 Sport to take care of a St Mirren side humbled 3-1 at home by Hamilton in their last game.
But the Buddies have form when it comes to upsetting the odds against an Edinburgh giant out of sorts, having beaten freefalling Hearts last month.
If you fancy Oran Kearney's men to dish out more capital punishment they are 13/2 with 888 Sport, who quote 18/5 for the draw.
It's hard to put a finger on what has gone wrong at Hibs and they have too many good players to stay in their dismal run of form. So I'm inclined to back the Hibees with both teams to score which is 47/20 with 888 Sport.
But the Buddies have lost three of their last six games by a 2-0 scoreline so that might also be worth consideration at 11/2 with 888 Sport.
Lennon could ring the changes after that awful performance in Ayrshire so it might be worth waiting to see what the line-ups are before having a goalscorer bet.
However, Martin Boyle's searing pace makes him a threat against a St Mirren defence marshalled by the ageing Anton Ferdinand.
The winger is available at 5/1 for first scorer and 7/5 for anytime scorer which looks very good value.
Recommended bets
- Hibs win and both teams to score 47/20 (888 Sport)
- Martin Boyle anytime scorer 7/5
