Huddersfield Town vs Brighton
English Premier League. Kick-off: 3pm, Saturday 1st December.
IT looked like Huddersfield were suffering a chronic case of second-season syndrome as they started the Premier League campaign by taking just three points from their first 10 games.
But a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Fulham at the start of November proved to be the catalyst for a revival which has Terriers fans feeling optimistic again.
The spirit that saw them survive in their debut campaign against all odds was evident once more as they followed that first win up with a 1-1 draw against West Ham and a cracking 2-0 victory at Wolves.
That has lifted them up to 15th place and another win over Brighton could give David Wagner's side a bit of breathing room at the bottom.
888 Sport have them at 29/20 to keep the revival going with another win while the draw is 39/20 and a Brighton win 12/5.
While Huddersfield have gone three without defeat, the Seagulls are three without a win and only have themselves to blame. They were 1-0 up against 10-man Leicester last time out only for Beram Kayal to concede a penalty that Jamie Vardy converted for the leveller.
Brighton have been pretty tight at the back all season, racking up three 1-0 victories in a row before their recent bad run, so I'm not expecting a glut of goals in this one.
Both teams not to score looks a good shout but the odds are pretty poor, with 888 Sport offering just 8/13. Under 2.5 goals also won't deliver much of a return at 11/25.
There's better value to be had in the half-time/full-time markets as I expect a winner to arrive after half-time in a tight match.
Half-time draw/full-time Huddersfield is 23/5 with 888 Sport while the same scenario with a Brighton win is 6/1.
This could really go either way but I've a hunch the Seagulls might nick it and will stick a couple of quid on that.
Aaron Mooy netted both Terriers goals in the win at Wolves and looks a little overpriced at 7/1 for first scorer and 19/5 for anytime scorer with 888 Sport.
Brighton stopper Lewis Dunk might be a worth a flutter at 15/1 for anytime scorer (888 Sport) given he's a threat from corners.
Recommended bets
- Half-time draw/full-time Brighton 6/1 (888 Sport)
- Aaron Mooy first scorer 7/1 (888 Sport)
- Lewis Dunk anytime scorer 15/1 (888 Sport)
