MONSIEUR NOIR (3.35) should appreciate the step up to seven furlongs at Leicester.
Roger Varian’s son of Shamardal couldn’t quicken when a beaten favourite over a furlong shorter at Salisbury a fortnight ago but had the rest beaten off.
Varian saddles two runners on the card and LADY MOMOKA (5.40) may be able to exploit an opening mark of 73 in division two of the 1m 2f handicap.
Another Shamardal offspring, she wasn’t disgraced behind hot favourite Saint Diana at Chelmsford City and is closely matched with consistent Mystic Meg on a line through third horse Anaakeed.
In division one, top weight PURPLE ROCK (5.10) is worth an each-way interest on his neck second to Lyrica’s Lion over this distance at Nottingham two weeks ago. Gay Kelleway saddled a winner at Yarmouth yesterday.
