IT'S Battle of Britain night as Aberdeen face Burnley in the Europa League qualifiers and it's a tough one to call.
Aberdeen are more experienced in Europe and further on in their preparations for the league kick-off but Burnley clearly have the stronger squad.
Derek McInnes' side for me look weaker than last season and that's a worry and I'm tentavively backing Burnley to win the first leg at Pittodrie if they are on the money.
Rangers visit Osijek, Hibs are at home to Asteras Tripolis and TNS entertain Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar and I've posted a separate preview featuring these ties.
There are many more matches and some big names such as RB Leipzig and Sevilla in action but of course they are short prices.
BATE beat my Top Treble yesterday by drawing at home to HJK while I backed Odsonne Edouard to score first and he netted second and fourth as Celtic beat Rosenborg 3-1 in what was ultimately a good display and that should be enough to see them through to a meeting with AEK Athens.
Well done to all Wednesday's winners and good luck on Thursday.

Balzan v Slovan Bratislava
Like the look of goals in this one. Bratislava put 9 past Moldovan side Milsami in the previous qualifying round, winning 2-4 on the road before an emphatic 5-0 home win sealed the deal. After a reasonable amount of goals across their pre-season friendlies, they went on to win 1-4 in the first game of the Slovakian season.
Maltese opponents Balzan would be presumably of a similar level to Milsami. BTTS and Overs landed in their two friendlies against Macedonian and Croatian opposition, before they played out an entertaining tie against an Azerbaijani side in the previous round. They won 4-1 at home before going down 2-1 in the second leg.
I fancy Bratislava to do the business here, but I think the game has a good profile for goals.
O2.5 Match Goals @ 8/11 (Marathon)
_____________________________
Zalgiris have just 2 home clean sheets in 9 since March against varied domestic opposition, and this included conceding to Faroe Island side Klaksvik in the previous qualifying round. In fact, they conceded to them in both legs and didn’t look mightily convincing. Vaduz ply their trade in the second tier of Swiss football and arguably look good for promotion this season. Their games typically see goals at either end of the pitch and I was impressed by their away goals defeat of Bulgarian side Levski Sofia in the last round. Having scored two goals in Bulgaria, I think they are a reasonable price to bag in Lithuania.
Mr F and the like have covered Hibs plenty and I do like them to bag at least 1.

Good luck all.
Kairat Almaty v AZ Alkmaar looks likely for goals. Both teams like a goal. Almaty have averaged 3 goals per game over 19 league games so far. AZ had a 3+ goals per game average last season in the league.
BTTS and o2.5gls 6/5
BTTS 1st half 7/2
Almaty could win this game imo, they’re halfway through their season and AZ have only played friendlies preseason. They’re solid at home with only 1 defeat in the last 34 home league games and 1 defeat in 13 home Europa League/UEFA Cup games and that was 16yrs ago in 2002.
Arshavin the Ex-Arsenal man has 7 in 19 league games and 5 in 9 games in Europe for Almaty including the previous round. Can’t find a price for him anytime but if it comes up closer too the time I’ll back him

AIK travel over the pond to Denmark to face FC Northsjaelland. They are taking a good following with them 1500 fans and are well into their domestic season leading the way. FC North sjaelland have just started with a 1-1 draw to AGF. They have a young and injury plagued team and I expect the Swedes to return to Stockholm with a win.
Generous odds for the win too!
@2.30 I think the bookies are making a mistake here. Best of luck if you choose to follow.
Afternoon gents
Huge Europa League card today, its a bit of minefield and so diffcult to suss out. matches are either really evenly balanceD or a complete mismatch and its hard to find value
I’m going to focus on the scottish teams in action – All three clubs have really tough matches and it would e great if they can get a result. Abderdeen have the toughst test at Home to Burnley, this will be both sides firat game of the season and the dons should be that little bit sharper having retunred earlier, however, a team that finishes in the top of the the EPL will be tough to beat so can see why so many people fancy the Turf MoOre men to edge this.
Aberdeen v Burnely
NK Osijek v Rangers
Hibernian v Asteras Tripolis
All three kick off at 7.45PM -there is a strong case for over 2.5 goals in the Hibs games given they managed to concede 5 goals against a mob from the Faroes, yet are very strong ging forwward with Kamberi leading the line, going to pay it safer though and go for a no TMhrills over 1.5 match goals treble. Hibs gae should land with ease and if Rangers can fnd their shooting boots BTTS looks likely. The biggest gamble is the Aberdeen game but with a sold out Pittodrie, there should be a terrfic atmosphere. interesting to see how Burnely fair – Rememeber West Ham got elimiated not too long ago against opsotion much weaker than Aberdeen. EPL teams not used to July competetive football

Night Owl:
THE STRONGEST VS. WILSTERMANN (2315 KO):
Wilstermann owe me nothing but it was a rare and disappointing 0-0 in their opener and I’d hope that it was early season rustiness at work but time will tell.
There’s been some crackers between these two and that dull opener has pushed Jorge way out on the prices…it may pay to back the goal time for the travellers – they’ve been the better of the two sides for a couple of seasons and even with a stronger Strongest, 69 minutes is a long time for a side with Wilstermann’s recent pedigree to find a goal:

Sunshine On Leith tonight but will Hibernian struggle with the Scottish heat
After a 12-5 aggregate win in the last round i now know how England fans felt after beating Panama in the World Cup
HIBEES in Europe “ITS COMING HOME”
It will be a difficult tie but if it’s coming home then we have to get past Asteras Tripolis,
Asteras Tripolis at home in Europe have only been beaten by Tottenham Hotspur and Schalke, claiming noteworthy wins against Mainz, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Partizan Belgrade, and APOEL Nicosia, as well as drawing with Turkish giants Beşiktaş and Czech outfit Sparta Prague, although I don’t take much notice of previous years stats it does show that the away leg will be a test, so if Hibernian want to progress then they may have to get a good result tonight but if we do need to get an away win then we are capable of doing that,
Asteras Tripolis have players from Greece, Ghana, Spain, Argentina, Cameroon, and Italy in their squad and main players to look for are
MICHALIS MANIAS who finished as fourth top scorer in the Greek Superleague last campaign, scoring 12 times from 28 appearances.
KOSTAS TRIANTAFYLLOPOULOS is a key figure in defence for the Arcadian side, a physically imposing centre-half who will be trying to contain Hibernian forward Florian Kamberi.
WALTER IGLESIAS is a 6ft 4in holding midfielder from Argentina who came through the Atletico Madrid youth system, physically strong on and off the ball he will be looking to outbattle John McGinn
While Asteras Tripolis are worthy favourites to come through this tie, you can’t dismiss Hibernian
I have always said that Hibernian spending three seasons in the Championship is the best thing that could have happened, it has given them time to rebuild and get a stability about the club again, we are a strong club now, on and off the field, off the field we now refuse to be bullied by other clubs and only sell our players on our terms which has been proven by refusing to sell Scott Allan to Rangers and getting an extra year out of Jason Cummings before parting company, now it’s John McGinn who we won’t sell unless it’s a deal that will suit us and If we have to then we will keep him for his last year which would be more beneficial to us especially as we are trying to qualify for the Europa League group stage
JOHN MCGINN is a vital part of our team the way he wins the ball and holds players off, can make chances and score goals
FLORIAN KAMBERI was probably the signing of the window as he only cost us £150,000
9 goals from 14 appearances last season and 3 goals already this season from 2 games shows he is a major threat against anyone
STEVIE MALLAN is a new signing for Hibernian, he wasn’t given a chance at Barnsley but after his time at St Mirren we could see he was a decent player who could score a free kick, two games into his Hibernian career he has already paid back the £225,000 Hibernian paid for him by scoring four goals with two of them stunning free kicks and all four of his goals have come from outside the penalty box,
I keep hearing people go on about conceding 5 goals against part timers from the Faroes, the goal at Easter Road took a wicked deflection sending the keeper the wrong way and the four goals in the Faroes were just down to complacency thinking the tie was over “which it was” and having a makeshift defence which was just to get players some playing time as some players were having their first game of the season, it will be a totally different defence tonight with Darren McGregor & Paul Hanlon likely to be back, Squirrel “Martin Boyle” should also be back and that’s a big plus for us
All in all Asteras Tripolis should be shorter than they are but I still fancy Hibernian to qualify and win tonight with Asteras Tripolis being poor travellers,
Hibernian over 1.5 goals 17/11 unibet
Hibernian over 2.5 goals 5/1 paddy power
Florian Kamberi to score 13/10 paddy power
Martin Boyle to Score 9/2 paddy power
Good shout with Hibs goals – great comeback.
Looking at the confirmed lineups I think Burnley will be too strong for Aberdeen tonight. Still getting a good price for Burnley as well.

If anybody thinks that Rangers team will get close to Celtic this year they’re deluded. Time too gel or not, Gerrards signed nobody that would get in a Celtic Jersey week in and week out. Toothless upfront and ordinary everywhere else. It will be a stroll too 8 ?
Yi spelt 12 wrong ?
Fair point ? the only way Celtic won’t get 10 is if Donald Flump pushes the big red button and mankind has too start again…. Mind the gap
I hope you didn’t lose too much money tonight backing Osijek Mr H.
It was a good result away from home with a starting X1 with 7 new players and 3 making there debuts.
No point making predictions for the season as its too early.
Good results for all the Scottish teams but each tie still has a long way too go.
Lost a few sheckles yes but it didn’t put much of a dent on what I won on Celtic last night ?
NO point making predictions? I’ll predict Rangers won’t finish within 10 points of Celtic this season. We are still streets in front in every department both on and off the field. Maybe if Rangers get through this round and earn a little cash they can start paying off the £18 m debt made up in soft loans…. Oh hold on a minute, Rangers paying debt? Silly me
Penny for your thoughts @maccathered. Diddy team did well to scrape a draw Scotlands second best ?
