BIALCO (2.15) can make a winning return to novices’ company in the opener at Ayr.
Lucinda Russell’s grey takes a significant drop in class following his excellent fifth to the 135-rated Tommy Rapper in a Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle qualifier at Haydock nine days ago.
That run came over three miles so this significant drop to the minimum trip is clearly of some concern but Bialco didn’t seem devoid of speed at Haydock, leading two out before fading out of the places.
Nicky Richards is enjoying a productive spell and Nando’s course and distance second to Grand Morning in mid-January was a fair effort. Russell trains the winner so she should know where she stands with Bialco.
Keith Dalgleish’s Take The High Road ran well enough at Wetherby to suggest he shouldn’t be far away.
Champion jump Richard Johnson has a decent book of rides and he could ride a Scottish winner in DURBANVILLE (3.15).
James Ewart’s gelding could manage only sixth behind Slanelough on quicker ground at Doncaster but that looked a stronger event than today’s 3m test. Durbanville handled heavy when scoring at Carlisle last October and can beat some in-form rivals.
At Wolverhampton this evening, LEGAL HISTORY (6.45) and Aquarium look set for a good tussle. On a line through Sir Hamilton, Legal History just has the edge over market leader Aquarium.
RECKLESS WAVE (7.45) and Inn The Bull, both previous course winners in grand fashion, are difficult to separate.
Reckless Wave made all to beat Alan King's runner at Newbury in June and less aggressive tactics paid dividends here 16 days ago when he cut down Acker Bilk.
Inn The Bull was equally impressive when beating Brigadoon over a longer trip and bookmakers were last night finding it hard to split the pair.

John, Joseph O Brien has already won the irish gold cup with Edwulf, a group 1 with Intricately and a Melbourne cup also.
I think Edwulf has a huge chance in the cheltenham gold cup, but would like to hear your opinion John.
I am not a fan of the horse and I can’t believe connections would run Edwulf ahead of Coney Island, I know Edwulf won the Irish Gold Cup but Killultagh Vic was all over the winner at the last flight and a lot of horses would need to underperform to give Edwulf a chance, his price of 25/1 is about right
Hope you arent looking at a big priced horse chasing whatever you lost on Bristol de Mai mate.
John summed it up well, Killultagh Vic had him in his pocket when falling at the last in the Irish, and there will be plenty of others thatll need bypassing up the run in.
No need to chase as all my bets for Cheltenham are on and very happy with all of them as I am one of the very best analysts there is at this time, I haven’t chased bets in over 30 years and not going to start now
Hello JB not posted in a while congrats on the winning % last couple months hopefully that continues in to Cheltenham for you, I know your time is limited and I rarely have time to get on me read everyone’s comments these days but was wondering if you could find the time would it be possible to have a list of your bets and which races you’ve backed them in so I could get a few early accumulators on please if you cant or don’t wish to I understand, hope all the old posters have been keeping well and bashing them bookies take care all.
Also do you have an early fancy for the GN I was tempted to back Vicente again but haven’t had a decent enough look yet again thanks for any input
He was replying to the first comment on the thread I think John.
He was on Bristol de mai bud
Don’t suppose you will be sharing your bets for Cheltenham then JohnB? Would love to hear
I’m on native river at 7-1 and in double with altior evens. So obviously I don’t want edwulf to win.
Think native river has had lighter campaign than last year with this in mind.
Nothing stands out in what looks a distinctly average gold cup.
Course form counts for a lot and sizing John is the one I fear even though his last run wasn’t the best.

I would rather one of my horses lose than win because a horse fell, never like seeing a horse fall, the main thing is the faller looks ok and we got extremely lucky there, it’s a profitable day again and 2 from 4 means the winning percentage is strengthened and Something Lucky tonight is a bonus now although we have just seen something lucky but just glad Invicta Lake is ok
The gods smile today.
Invicta is apparently sound and greyed gets the winners cheque, so everyone’s a winner.
