THE World Cup goal drought ended in spectacular style as Christian Eriksen's brilliant hat-trick took Denmark to Russia at the expense of Republic of Ireland.

I flagged up Shane Duffy to score and he did so inside six minutes as Martin O'Neill's men got off to a flyer.

But Eriksen soon took over and netted more goals than any country in the play-offs bar Croatia to see the Danes across the line with a bit to spare.

I put up a 0.5 Super Single on no scorer and said I could jinx it in the hope of seeing a goalfest and that's exactly what happened. England v Brazil … well that was another matter!

My 3pts Top Treble was a winning 7-5 double thanks to France not losing in Germany and Panama +2 at Wales. Brazil draw no bet at England was void.

Well done to all the winners including Greg with his over 2.5 goals double.

There's not much to look at on Wednesday although there is the second leg of Australia v Honduras at 9am and the final World Cup place will be decided when Peru meet New Zealand in the early hours of Thursday morning. Both first legs finished 0-0.

On Wednesday there is one FA Cup replay with Peterborough travelling to Tranmere and some Welsh and Irish League Cup matches.

Tim Cahill and Tom Rogic should be back for Australia who are unbeaten in 21 qualifiers at home. I don't expect much excitement or many goals but the Aussies should edge it – doubles up with Peru pays just under evens and I'll take that as a Daily Double.

    Afternoon gents,

The words Birkenhead and Posh rarely go together in the same sentence but they do tonight…

    TRANMERE ROVERS VS. PETERBOROUGH UNITED:

I remember well the relative glory days of Tranmere in the late 80’s early and 90’s and saw many cracking games at both Gigg and Prenton Park when we were briefly good too – the names Muir, Nixon and Co will prompt fond memories from any Tranmere fans out there!

Both teams sniffed each other out in a 1-1 draw last week and I reckon there just may be a bit of value in the same again tonight; Peterborough have failed to score in just 1 of their last 14 consecutive matches whilst the hosts have netted in all but 2 of their own last 8.

Althogh the Posh start favourites, it’s worth noting that Tranmsere themselves have scored 2,4,0 and 2 team goals in their last 4 at Prenton Park.

    One selection for me:

    BTTS…4/6
    ????

    Best of luck.

It means Liverpool have more chance of winning the league than Mcinnes being rangers manager mate.

Glad i took the 25/1 i mentioned last week as a cover on the looking more likely McInnes losses, down to 5/1 now and saying he will only quit N.Ireland job for club management. http://www.ibroxnoise.co.uk/2017/11/rangers-in-three-way-stand-off-for.html Heres hoping its either O’Neill or Mcinness anyway.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit

If Rangers are baulking at McInnes compo will they pay £750k for O’Neill?
No compo payment if O’Neill takes over another country such as Scotland who have made an approach.

    • Avatar of sless1903
      sless1903 7 years ago

McInnes buy out clause is minimum £1.2m and needs to paid in full for it to be activated. I have heard it’s higher but the figure wasn’t mentioned. Rangers don’t have that sort of money and in reality if they really wanted him he would have been appointed by now. Interesting to see a number of Glasgow based journalists/pundits are no longer touting McInnes but putting forward other names as they know it’s not happening.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

£1.2m is the figure being quoted and of course Rangers don’t want to pay it.
However, if McInnes wants the job is it wise for Aberdeen to keep an unhappy manager?

    • Avatar of sless1903
      sless1903 7 years ago

Who says he wants the job? He already said once he’s not interested in going to Rangers so I can’t see what’s changed since then to make it more attractive than staying at Aberdeen.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

It’s been reported he wants the job – I don’t know if that’s correct. Time will tell.
Rangers are a bigger club than Aberdeen – they might be a bombscare of a club – but they’re still bigger.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 7 years ago

Its most unusual for a so called big club to stall on appointing a manager, temporary management doesn’t work,Murty has won his first few games but it wont last and it might be the difference in rangers making europe or not, even in the europa league its still big money.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Rangers’ problems are well documented so it’s another strange comment. They may be one of the best supported clubs in the UK but money remains short for all sorts of reasons.
Having to pay Caixinha off and then compo for McInnes wasn’t in the budget – nor was a first-round Euro exit.
Murty’s a safe pair of hands as caretaker but they’ve made it clear he’s not a long-term prospect.

Going to get on the Over 3.5 mgls market in the Red Star game, currently 1/2 but will wait the first 5-10 mins of the second half before getting on.

Playing bottom of the table Boruc (16th place) who have a -16 goal difference.

This is a cup game, but still fancy Red Star to have a go again, and there to be 2 more goals in the second half.

Rangers are bigger than Aberdeen in stature, crowds history etc in the same way Leeds are bigger than Burnley.
Its achievements on the pitch that matter.
Why mc Inness would entertain moving to the once great football institution rangers is beyond me.
Recent history shows that unless they match Celtic, which it seems they think they should be doing, managers are deleted.
Mc Inness comes in and is deleted within 2 years, this is a stick on, then where next.
Aberdeen won’t have a Judas back and Lennon is secure at hibs, the rest ?, might scrape a uefa spot if they are lucky.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Most fans in Scotland will understand why someone would move from Aberdeen to Rangers.
If you live outside Scotland then you might not be able to see it.
Like it or lump it – and I don’t like it – Scottish football is about 2 massive clubs and then there is the rest.

    • Avatar of Elvis Parsley
      elvis parsley 7 years ago

      You got a point.
Do well at rangers after all that’s gone on and he will be known as the man who restored rangers to their previous standing.
      Big gamble though.

    • Avatar of gg1a
      gg1a 7 years ago

i said days ago it was a gamble, but for rangers as well , spend money to get him and hope they become 2nd,
then progress steadily as they have been doing as a new club :).
staying at aberdeen hinders mc innes , as rangers will become 2nd in time, he knows this,
aberdeen are then after the scraps, hes in the spotlight now coz of rangers demise , hibs hearts
been at sorts but hibs now getting stronger. if he doesnt go, he,ll regret it in time.
at least as rangers manager he wont see his best striker go to celtic then sit on the bench
unless its alfie conn junior, :)

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

As everyone knows I don’t support Celtic or Rangers but having lived all my life in the west of Scotland I know the score.
If they come calling for a player he signs, if you’re offered the manager’s job you take it.
Sure, Rangers have their problems but Celtic and Rangers are massive clubs – and many would say too big for Scotland.

    • Avatar of Steven Anderson
      sand 7 years ago

It might have been that way years ago but no way is it that clear cut nowadays.

Yes they are a bigger club but it’s been well documented the mess Rangers are in and I’m sorry a so called club of stature should have at least approached a new boss 3 weeks down the line. That’s an embarrassment.

McInnes ain’t stupid he turned down more money and so called better opportunity at Sunderland. if he left what can he achieve? No other club are winning the league for many years. He won’t get the time needed by the punters and his reputation he has built backup after Bristol City will be gone.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

He didn’t go to Sunderland because he thought they were a mess off the field and he’s pretty much been proved correct.
Rangers have problems but in time they’ll get better.
McInnes would need to finish second and be as close to Celtic as possible, maybe win a cup and get through a few rounds in Europe.
      Sounds easy eh.

    • Avatar of Steven Anderson
      sand 7 years ago

Yup easy. So basically he can only do what he can do at Aberdeen and over time their fans won’t accept it.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

Sensible Rangers fans know second place is the best they can get just now – others feel they should be able to get into a position to challenge Celtic by at least beating everyone else. As I’ve said before time will tell if McInnes go and many of the questions only he can answer.

    CRUZEIRO VS. AVAÍ (2130 KO):

Plenty at stake for both sides and although I’ve not time for a detailed write-up, the bookies hot favouritism for Cruzeiro might just open up a touch of value for an Avai side who’ve been good to me this campaign and whose opponents have conceded in 5 of their last 6 games.

Mine went down like one of Mrs parsleys roadkill hotpots.

I’m off to lose some dough at Ludlow Races tomorrow, at least I can see my money floundering in the home straight there.

Grand Slam of Darts (evening session)

Suljovic vs Van Peer – Suljovic highest checkout over 113.5 5/6 PP LOST

Durrant vs Chisnall – Chisnall win 5/4 Betfair LOST
    Chisnall over 5.5 180’s 8/11 PP LOST
    Chisnall -1.0 180 handicap 11/10 PP LOST

Anderson vs Smith – highest checkout score over 126.5 10/11 PP WON
Anderson vs Smith – over 10.5 180’s 11/10 PP LOST

Bunting vs Wright – Wright highest checkout over 112.5 5/6 PP WON

Not the best outcome tonight. With Chisnall you either get brilliance or a very ordinary performance and unfortunately tonight it was the latter. Stray darts, messy finishing etc all whilst bumping into inspired Durrant. Missed the over total 180 line in Anderson vs Smith by one maximum to rub the salt in… hopefully tomorrow things run more smoothly. Well done all winners
