THE Royal Dar-es-Salaam course hosts the Trophee Hassan II and is regarded as one of the toughest tracks on the African continent.

It is a massive 7487-yard par 72 with its rolling terrain winding through forests of oak, cork and eucalyptus trees. The signature hole is the par-three 9th which has a lily pond with flamingos. Putting looks to be the stat to look at with maybe a sideways look at driving accuracy.

Last season was a good one for Brandon Stone on the Sunshine Tour with a win and a further four top-five placings. This season he has three top-10 finishes including a win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and a respectable T7 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

He hasn’t won outside his native South Africa but that could be about to change. His driving accuracy stat is 61% with a putts per GIR of 1.709.

The on-form man in this field has to be South African Dean Burmester. He won the Tshwane Open last month by three strokes and looked comfortably. A fourth in the BMW SA Open was followed by a seventh in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship following week.

The 26-year-old, along with Stone, look like the next generation of great golfers to come out of South Africa. His driving accuracy is probably a weak point at 48.1% but his putting certainly makes up for it with a stat of 1.686 (6th).
