IF anyone knows what it takes to win a European Trophy, it's Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese gaffer has tasted European success on no fewer than four occasions (two Champions Leagues & two UEFA/Europa Leagues). Tonight he can add a new title to his list of honours when his AS Roma side take on Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final in Tirana, Albania.
Sitting in the other dugout will be the relatively inexperienced Dutchman, Arne Slot. The 43-year-old is yet to win any kind of silverware in his managerial career but this is only his first season in charge of the former European Champions following a successful, if brief, stint in charge of AZ Alkmaar.
Slot led Feyenoord to third place in Eredivisie this season, 12 points behind champions Ajax, and their run to tonight's final saw them dispose of Marseille, Slavia Prague and Partizan Belgrade after they topped a group, which also included Slavia as well as Union Berlin and Maccabi Haifa. Despite only scoring 11 goals in the group stages they outgunned the opposition in the knockout stages winning 8-3 (v Partizan), 6-4 (v Slavia) and 3-2 (v Marseille).
Roma dug deep to carve out their route to the final. A 6-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt in the group stages rasied some eyebrows, and some laughs at Mourinho's expense, but his side recovered to top Group C, scoring an impressive 18 goals in their six matches.
The knock-out stages required some Mourinho-esque performances as the dug deep to squeeze past Vitesse (2-1 on aggregate) and Leicester (also 2-1) either side of handing out some revenge to Bodo/Glimt with a 4-0 win in Rome after the Norwegians beat them for a second time in the Arctic Circle.
So which Roma can we expect to see tonight? In 2010 Mourinho delivered a masterclass when his Inter Milan side knocked out out peak Barcelona before beating heavily-fancied Bayern Munich in the final. Tonight his team carries the weight of favouritism at 11/8 to win inside the 90 minutes much like in his other three European final successes.
It might be a third tier European Competition but there's no doubt that Mourinho would love to add it to his CV and for the Italians it's the chance to win their first continental trophy since 1961.
Feyenoord can be backed at 21/10 to win in 90 minutes and the draw can't ruled out at 23/10 either, we've seen plenty of those already this season's finals in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Europa League and Scottish Cup so far.
Roma look to have slightly more quality in their squad than the Dutch side and if push comes to shove the Mourinho-factor can't be ignored at 7/5.

I put this bet up yesterday so people could get on the price before it inevitably falls. Annoyingly, bet365 voided the initial bet of 0.0 bodo Asian corner handicap claiming the price was wrong. Fortunately, I managed to find a similar bet at 17/20 with 888sport and that hasn’t been voided so they’re standing by it, which is more than can get said for bet365.

It’s a shame the bet365 bet was voided by them as not only was it amazing odds but we had the security of money back if the corner count was equal.
However, 17/20 for Bodo most corners/over 4.5 Bodo corners is also too good to turn down and a more than adequate replacement. If Bodo get get the most corners, you’d think they’ll get over 4.5 corners.
Bodo have won the corner count/hit over 4.5 corners in all 4 home games this season, against mainly top teams:
• 5-2 v Tromsø
• 17-3 v Lillestrom
• 8-2 v Vålerenga
• 6-3 v Rosenborg
Whereas Strømgodset have lost the corner count in 3/4 away games. Two of the most recent were absolute hammerings:
• 12-6 v Kristiansund
• 10-0 v Viking
• 7-5 v Haugesund
• 2-9 v Jerv
I watched their game at high flying Viking and they put 11 men behind the ball, lost the corner count 10-0 and ground out a 0-0. I think they’ll do exactly the same against double reigning champions Bodo.
Finally, Bodo have only lost the corner count and had less than 5 corners in only 2 games in 2 and a bit seasons so I’m more than happy to put all my eggs in this basket tonight.

To be fair, everything that could have gone wrong in my Bodo corner bet (Bodo scoring early, stromgodset going on the attack out wide) did go wrong but it still just about landed.

Top of the table Lillestrom are having an amazing start to the season (played 8 W6 D2 L0) and that’s even more impressive when you see the teams they’ve played. They came away from Bodo with an impressive 1-1 draw, have beaten Molde away 1-2 – hitting 6 corners and have won all 4 home games without even conceding a goal.
At home they boast a perfect record of 4 wins from 4. 8 goals scored and 0 conceded. Impressive. Valerenga, however, are no mugs and despite a poor start by their standards they should pose a few problems which should result in a few Lillestrom corners.
As well as winning, Lillestrom are hitting decent corner numbers. In their 4 home games thus far they’ve hit 7,5,9 and 6. The games where they hit 5 and 6 corners were easy wins which reflects on the slightly lower corner numbers. I can’t see Lillestrom hammering Valerenga here so hopefully that’ll keep things fairly competitive, which should hopefully bring about corners.
I was tempted to have Lillestrom to win at 19/20 but double chance and over 4.5 Lillestrom corners at a shade under evens is a fantastic price and has a 100% record of landing in Lillestrom home games this season.
