US Open tips

The Women's semi-finals at the 2025 US Open will take place later today, and fans at Flushing Meadows are in for a treat as all four remaining women are worthy champions in their own right.

The best performance of the quarter-finals goes to Amanda Anisimova, who defeated Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek in straight sets. The result was even more impressive when you consider that it was Animisova whom Swiatek beat 6-0, 6-0 at Wimbledon just two months ago.

Waiting for Animisova in the semi-finals is Naomi Osaka, who cruised past Karolina Muchova in straight sets. If Anisimova can take down Osaka, then she could set up an all-American final with Jessica Pegula, who has the daunting task of facing Aryna Sabalenka in her semi-final.

How do we see both semi-finals going? Let's take a look.

US Open day 12 tips: Our picks

Jessica Pegula to beat Aryna Sabalenka (12/5)

Jessica Pegula has arguably been the most impressive player at the US Open this year, winning all five of her matches so far in straight sets.

The world number four is yet to have even been taken to a tie break, so she couldn't exactly be in any better form ahead of her clash with the world number one.

As well as Pegula has played, if Sabalenka brings her A-game, then she will win. However, the Belarusian does have form for letting the pressure get to her in the biggest of matches and with the crowd set to root strongly for Pegula, I fear it won't take much for things to start to unravel for Sabalenka.

The world number one also had a bye in the previous round. While that means she will come into the match in peak physical condition, it also means she could have some ring rust, having not played a match at the tournament in four days.

While Sabelnka should be considered the favourite, Pegular is woefully overpriced at 12/5 and is a great bet.

Amanda Anisimova to beat Naomi Osaka (5/6)

Naomi Osaka vs Amanda Anisimova will have a fairytale ending, no matter which player comes out on top.

On one hand, you have the former champion, who has taken time away from tennis in recent years due to mental health problems and motherhood. On the other hand, you have the home favourite who is looking to return to a Grand Slam final for the first time of asking after losing 6-0, 6-0 in the Wimbledon final.

There isn't an awful lot to split these two players, in terms of how they have played at the US Open, but Anisimova was marginally better than Osaka in their respective semi-finals. If she can replicate that performance tonight, then Osaka will be unlikely to live with her, particularly as her serve wasn't firing to her usual high standard.

US Open day 12 tips: Double

  • Jessica Pegula to beat Aryna Sabalenka
  • Amanda Anisimova to beat Naomi Osaka
  • 5/1
