First goalscorer predictions

Inter Miami and Porto both kicked off the Club World Cup with dreary stalemates but their Group A showdown tonight will hopefully be a bit more entertaining.

All eyes were on Lionel Messi as Miami played in the tournament opener but the little magician couldn't find a way past Al Ahly's defence.

Porto also drew a blank against Brazilian side Palmeiras so the section is wide open as the second round of fixtures gets underway.

Inter Miami vs Porto top betting tips

This looks like a tricky one to call based on the first round of games in Group A but BoyleSports make Porto heavy favourites at 6/10, with Inter Miami 10/3 outsiders.

This match is being played at Atlanta's vast Mercedes Benz Stadium, which was less than half-full for Chelsea's clash with Los Angeles FC. It's another 3pm kick-off so I'd imagine the crowd will be small again, even with the lure of Messi.

That could make it feel like a pre-season friendly so I'm drawn to the 6/5 on offer at BoyleSports for under 2.5 goals after both teams drew a blank in their first outing.

Referees have been pretty card happy so far at this tournament and Inter Miami picked up four yellows against Al Ahly, while Porto's clash with Palmeiras produced a further five bookings.

I've yet to see a market for cards but Bet365 do have prices for player fouls. Veteran Sergio Busquets will be at the heart of the midfield battle and the former Barcelona star is 7/4 for over 1.5 fouls.

Palmeiras vs Al Ahly

One of the biggest takeaways from the first round of group games at the Club World Cup is how competitive the South American sides have been.

The bookies fancied European giants to top most of the sections but the six representatives from Brazil and Argentina are all unbeaten so far.

Palmeiras drew 0-0 with Porto in their opener and a win over Egyptian side Al Ahly today would leave them in a good position to reach the knockout stages.

BoyleSports make the Brazilians 4/7 favourites for this one but Al Ahly need to be respected after shutting out Inter Miami's star studded attack.

Palmeiras may have to show patience so I fancy most goals to come after the break at evens with BoyleSports.

The Brazilians committed 20 fouls in their opener so that market is worth a look here as well. Skipper Gustavo Gomez was booked against Porto and the veteran defender is a tasty 2/1 for over 1.5 fouls.

Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid were battered by PSG in their Club World Cup opener so it will be interesting to see how they respond against Seattle Sounders tonight.

BoyleSports make the La Liga giants 2/7 favourites and they should bounce back with a win against a Seattle side who lost to Botafogo in their first match.

The scoreline flattered PSG a bit on Sunday as two of their goals came in the final few minutes after Clement Lenglet had been sent off.

Atletico also had a goal ruled out by VAR so I'm expecting them to come out swinging tonight and backing Diego Simeone's men to be winning at half-time and full-time looks good at 10/11 with BoyleSports.

Julian Alvarez should lead the line again for Atletico and Bet365 have him at evens to score which looks good value.

Thursday's Super Singles

  • Sergio Busquets over 1.5 fouls 7/4 Bet365
  • Most goals second half in Palmeiras v Al Ahly Evens BoyleSports
  • Julian Alvarez anytime scorer Evens Bet365

    Seattle to score 10-11 SKYBET.

Athletico looked like a team who really didn’t want to be here against PSG, a very unlike simeone performance bit the should still outclass the yanks.

Seattle are at home and though losing 2-1 in their 1st match did ok.

Botofogo are after all the South American champions league winners but Seattle has an expected goal mark of 2.20, a total shot count of 23-12 and a 4-0 corner count, Goalkeeper saves 4-4.
Also all 3 goals in the game were headers so they maybe a threat in that department

Their lack of cutting edge lets them down but I expect them to net especially if Madrid aren’t really that bothered about this end of season rubbish.
The American continent have always treated this competition with more credence than the Europeans do.

Saying that athletico will likely just do enough in a 2-1 win to save face
