VOICE OF VALUE signs off from his stand-in duties today and he'll have the bookies cowering in fear after his glory double yesterday.
His two tips won at 10-1 and 5-1 – a brilliant 65-1 double – and he's proved a superb deputy for Thommo who'll be back from his holiday with Wednesday tips.
Today’s selections all come at Catterick where the racing isn’t top class by any stretch of the imagination but it is competitive with plenty of entries and that gives us a chance to pick out some value.
The first one that I like is FIRBY (3.00pm, Catterick) who has threatened a few times without quite delivering but he drops again in the handicap and now has the assistance of Danny Tudhope in the plate who is peerless amongst northern riders in my opinion. I expect Firby to go very close at a double figure price.
My second selection is INDIAN PURSUIT (4.40pm, Catterick) who has dropped to a winning mark again and absolutely loves it here at Catterick over this trip. He is another one at a double figure price who looks like value to me.
The third and final selection for today is a favourite but as I have said before I’m not against backing a favourite if I think they are too big in the market. This CAPTAIN LARS (5.10pm, Catterick) falls into that category because I think he should be closer to even money than his current price of 11-4. He won nicely last time out taking advantage of the anomaly where horses can have a lower mark on turf than on all weather surfaces (and vice versa). Despite that win he is still very well handicapped (10lb below his all weather mark) and although his form is certainly better on the all weather he showed with his win last time that he isn’t completely against turf. He should win here and looks a good price to get involved with at the moment.
- 3.00 Catterick – Firby – 2pt e/w (11-1, Betfred, Totesport – both paying 4 places)
- 4.40 Catterick – Indian Pursuit – 2pt e/w (10-1, Bet365, Coral, Betway)
- 5.10 Catterick – Captain Lars – 4pt win (11-4, Skybet, Betway, BetVictor)
