KILMARNOCK got their Championship campaign off to a flying start with a derby win but today’s trip to Palmertson might give us a better idea of their title credentials.
Queen of the South v Kilmarnock
Fixtures like Queen of the South away are the ones that prove a side’s mettle in the race for promotion.
So it’s vital Tommy Wright’s men avoid a slip-up after the high of beating bitter rivals Ayr 2-0.
McBookie make Killie odds-on favourites at 10/11 but that price is too short for me after Queens came close to a win over top-flight Motherwell in their League Cup group.
So I’m going for goals with over 2.5 strikes a decent evens with SBK.
Big Innes Cameron was a stand-out in the second tier on loan at Alloa last term and got off the mark for Killie by netting from the spot in that derby win last week.
He’s 2/1 with Bet365 for a goal at Palmertson and that looks good value with him on penalty duties.
Queens midfielder Calvin McGorry has two yellows from four games this term so it could pay to back him for a card at 2/1 (McBookie).
Dunfermline v Partick Thistle
Dunfermline let me down last weekend when I tipped them to win at Morton, conceding a late goal to draw 2-2.
They now host Partick Thistle in a repeat of the League Cup tie won 4-2 by the Pars. Goals look to be guaranteed with Peter Grant in the East End Park dugout so over 2.5 strikes looks worth a punt at 13/14 with SBK.
Nikolay Todorov has four goals already for the Fifers this term and appeals at 6/4 with McBookie to grab another this afternoon.
Inverness v Raith Rovers
The Highland clash between Inverness and Raith could be tight so I fancy a one-goal winning margin at 13/10 (McBookie).
Hamilton came from 4-0 down to claim a stunning draw with Rovers last week and now host Morton.
BTTS looks the shout at 17/20 with McBookie and I’m going to double it with the same bet in Ayr v Abroath (10/11). The double pays a decent 25/10.
Queen's Park v Cove Rangers
There’s a huge clash in League One as two of the title favourites go head to head.
Queen’s Park are the favourites at home to Cove Rangers and it could be cagey, with four of the Spiders’ five games this term seeing under 2.5 goals.
Under 2.5 strikes pays 20/23 at Boylesports while betting against BTTS is evens with McBookie.
Stirling Albion v Kelty Hearts
Kelty began their League Two adventure with a win over Cowdenbeath but now face a tougher task with a trip to Stirling.
Premiership side Hearts are the only team to have shut out the Binos this term so I fancy BTTS at 4/6 with McBookie. Kelty’s Joe Cardle is too good for this level and is 2/1 (McBookie) to score.
Super Singles
- Over 2.5 goals in Dunfermline v Partick (13/14, SBK)
- Joe Cardle anytime scorer in Kelty v Stirling (2/1, McBookie)
- One-goal winning margin in ICT v Raith (13/10, McBookie)
