Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

, KO: 12:30 Apr 27, 2019, White Hart Lane
West Ham United

FOUR games. Four victories. Eight goals scored. Zero goals conceded. It’s safe to say that Tottenham Hotspur have settled in superbly well to their splendid new home.

Spurs did however leave it late on Tuesday night to preserve their flawless record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a last gasp Christian Eriksen goal needed to beat battling Brighton Hove Albion.

Next up for Mauricio Pochettino's Champions League semi finalists is a London derby against an out of sorts West Ham United outfit.

The Hammers inconsistency is reflected in the bookies pricing them as high as 13/2 (Bet 365) to win this derby, whereas Spurs are big favourites at 4/9 with most firms. Meanwhile a share of the spoils in this London showdown is on offer at 4/1 (William Hill).

West Ham head for their rivals new home on the back of one win in their last six Premier League matches – and that solitary success was a last gasp win against hapless Huddersfield Town.

Manuel Pellegrini's men were controversially denied three points last weekend against Leicester, however the East London side look like a team who are on the beach and as a consequence are set to miss out on a top half finish.

Spurs on the other hand will enter this encounter just three days prior to their first ever appearance in a Champions League semi final. Mauricio Pochettino will be putting Tuesday’s tangle with Ajax on the back burner this weekend with his Spurs side still having work to do if they want to be sure of a return to Europe’s elite competition next season.

The Tottenham boss’s hand may be forced on Saturday when it comes to his team selection with a heavy injury list hampering what was already a shallow squad. As such, the option to rotate players will be restricted and after a swamped schedule of late it was hardly surprising to see Spurs scrape past Brighton.

One man who will almost certainly start for Spurs is South Korean superstar Heung-min Son. The Spurs number seven is suspended for Tuesday’s clash with Ajax and will more than likely lead the line against West Ham.

Son is enjoying a fantastic season and has stepped up to the plate for Spurs in Harry Kane’s absence. With 12 goals in 29 Premier League appearances and three goals in his last three appearances against the Hammers, back Son to score anytime at 10//11 (Betfred).

West Ham’s young holding midfielder Declan Rice will be tasked with trying to nullify the supply to Son this Saturday lunchtime . The highly rated Hammer has been booked twice in his last four games and could be worth backing to be carded at 8/1 (Bet 365) in what could be a fiery fixture.

Shutting Spurs out however could prove to be problematic for Pellegrini with his side having shipped a minimum of two goals in their last six Premier League outings. Furthermore, the Irons are the divisions lowest scorers away from home this calendar year.

West Ham did however hit the net at Old Trafford a fortnight ago and they will be

roared on in this derby by boisterous band of Hammers in the away end of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. That coupled with the sluggishness of Spurs display on Tuesday has me fancying the Eastenders to be the first visiting team to strike at this spectacular new stadium.

To do so West Ham are 11/20 (Bet Victor) and in considering who may find the net for the visitors Michael Antonio could be worth a flutter at 5/1 (Betfair) after scoring last weekend against Leicester.

Even in the event of a West Ham goal on Saturday, Spurs can be expected to continue their run of scoring in every game at their new home. Both Teams to Score is available at 3/4(Betway),however if you’re looking for superior value back Tottenham to Win and Both Teams to Score at 9/5 (Ladbrokes).

There was an evident lethargy in Pochettino’s sides performance midweek, so the Hammers could give Spurs a scare. However, with Arsenal facing a tricky trip to Leicester on Sunday and something having to give between Manchester United and Chelsea on the same day, Spurs should seize the opportunity to take a big step towards rubber stamping another European adventure next season.
