Ross County vs Motherwell

, KO: 15:00 , Victoria Park
Motherwell

Ross County host Motherwell on Sunday in the final game of the league season and the hosts HAVE to win.

The Staggies looked like they would be doomed for the play-offs for the third year in a row after falling behind to Dundee in midweek.

But a controversial late penalty gave them hope and they ended a horror run of seven wins in a row by rescuing a 1-1 draw.

It means they are two points worse off than Dundee and six goals worse off in goal difference so realistically they have to beat Motherwell and hope relegated St Johnstone do them a favour by beating their derby rivals.

The late leveller would have given Don Cowie's men some hope and they will be desperate to avoid yet another play-off after escaping against Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers in the previous two years.

Motherwell have a chance of being the best of the rest in the bottom six with them being a point behind Hearts.

They cruised to a 3-0 win against ten-men Kilmarnock in midweek and seem to be ending the season enjoying playing with no pressure.

How the bookies view it: Cash for County

Ross County's need for points has convinced Boylesports to make them 20/23 favourites in Dingwall. Well are 13/5 and the draw is 12/5 with the same firm.

Recent head to heads: County have the upper hand

Ross County have won two out of the three meetings this season both home and away and the other game was a goalless draw at Fir Park on the first day of the season.

However, Well have twice hit County for five in Dingwall in the previous couple of seasons.

Players to watch: Hale and hearty

Ronan Hale was the man who converted that injury time penalty at Dens Park in midweek that relegated St Johnstone and ended their recent run. He is County's top scorer this season and is 5/4 to score anytime with Boylesports and he looks their most likely.

Luke Armstrong helped himself to a double in midweek and the on-loan Carlisle United striker has scored seven goals for the season for Well. He is 11/4 to score anytime with Boylesports.

Predicted line-ups:

County have Zac Ashworth available again after he was suspended for that midweek draw at Dundee.

This is almost certainly Lennon Miller's final match as a Motherwell player before the Scotland midfieldr makes an expected big money move in the summer.

Ross County: Amissah, Wright, Lopata, Nightingale, Efete, Randall, Kenneh, Nisbet, Campbell, Hale, Samuel.

Motherwell: Oxborough, Sparrow, O'Donnell, Casey, Seddon, Wilson, Halliday, Slattery, Miller, Paton, Watt.

Anything else catch the eye?

Motherwell are ending the season in style and appear to be relishing playing these no-pressure games since their safety was confirmed a few weeks ago.

They've been written off here for no other reason than County must win, but Motherwell have a chance to finish above Hearts and get some prize money. They are worth backing at a really good price in the Highlands.

You can't be backing a side who were seconds away from losing eight in a row no matter their predicament.

With the hosts having to go for it and Motherwell playing with no real pressure, it's worth backing goals in Dingwall.

Back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 5/4 with Boylesports.
