Ross County vs Aberdeen

, KO: 19:45 Apr 14, 2023, Global Energy Stadium
Aberdeen

ABERDEEN will set out to make it six Scottish Premiership wins in succession with a victory over Ross County at Victoria Park on Friday night.

The Dons' season was in serious danger of becoming a distant memory following their Scottish Cup disaster at Darvel and the subsequent 6-0 shredding at Hibernian that proved to be the final nail in Jim Goodwin's coffin.

However, the Pittodrie outfit have since enjoyed a noteworthy resurgence under interim boss Barry Robson who has won six of his eight league games in charge thus far.

After seizing control in the race for a money-spinning third-place finish with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday, Aberdeen will look to tighten their grip on third spot with a win over Ross County.

The Staggies gave their Scottish Premiership survival hopes a much-needed shot in the arm with a 2-0 win at St Johnstone last Saturday.

While Malky Mackay's men remain in the relegation playoff spot, they are now just one point behind 10th-placed Kilmarnock.

Outright Betting

Each of the previous two meetings between the pair this season have ended all square and the same outcome here can be backed here at 9/4 (Bet 365) while a Ross County win has been priced up at 23/10 (PaddyPower).

Aberdeen, who will be targeting a third road win on the spin for the first time this season, arrive in Dingwall as 13/10 (Ladbrokes) favourites.

Betting Angles

Aberdeen will have their backers at the above-mentioned price but I'm going to opt for an alternative angle via the Bet Builder market by merging Over 1.5 Match Goals and Aberdeen Double Chance at 4/5 (UniBet).

Goals have been a fairly regular feature in fixtures involving Aberdeen under Barry Robson's watch, with six of their last eight matches producing Over 1.5 Goals, not to mention the Over 2.5 Goal barrier has been breached in five of those bouts.

It's been a similar story for Ross County of late, with all but one of their last 11 Scottish Premiership games generating two or more more match strikes, and it's also worth pointing out that 14 of their 16 Scottish Premiership home games have featured at least two goals.

What's more, both teams are in desperate need of points- albeit for different reasons – and that only adds to the appeal of siding with Over 1.5 Goals in Dingwall, but to boost the odds, I'll also back in-form Aberdeen to avoid defeat.

As already alluded to, rookie coach Robson has reinvigorated this Aberdeen side and they're riding the crest of a wave entering this match-up and they should be further boosted by a large travelling support.

With all that in mind, coupled with the fact that this bet would have paid out in three of Aberdeen's last four matches, supporting the same formula on Friday night stands out at 4/5 (Unibet).

I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and have a small play on Aberdeen's Luís Lopes to get on the scoresheet at 7/4 (Bet 365).

Lopes – also known as ‘Duk' – took his tally to 15 Scottish Premiership goals in his debut season after bagging a brace against Kilmarnock last weekend and he looks a prime candidate to get his name in lights again here.
