Real Madrid vs Club Brugge

, KO: 17:55 Oct 1, 2019, Santiago Bernabeu
Club Brugge

REAL MADRID are aiming to get their Champions League campaign up and running when they welcome Club Brugge to the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening.

Los Blancos suffered a 3-0 defeat in their Champions League opener a fortnight ago when they were crushed in the French capital by Paris St Germain.

It was a result that piled more pressure on Real boss Zinedine Zidane, however, the Spanish giants have responded admirably to that setback – so much so that they now find themselves at the summit of La Liga.

Consequently, the heat on Zidane has cooled – for now anyway – after the French legend steered his side to back-to-back wins over Sevilla and Osasuna before taking a point from Saturday's drab 0-0 Madrid derby

Zidane will now be hoping his side can transfer their domestic form into the Champions League when they go up against Belgian outfit Club Brugge.

Brugge, like Madrid, currently occupy top spot in their homeland and the Belgian's have yet to taste defeat in 14 outings in all competitions this season.

What's more, Phillipe Clement's side got off the mark in Group A when they played out a 0-0 draw with Galatasaray in Bruges on matchday one and their impressive start to the season will see them travel to Spain in high spirits.

Yet, Brugge are huge underdogs to come away from this clash with a positive result and that is reflected in the 10/1 (Paddy Power) on offer for an away win, with the draw also deemed unlikely at 5/1 (Bet 365)

Unsurprisingly, Real are odds-on at 3/10 (Ladbrokes) to claim their first three European points of the campaign – a result which would see the Madrid men continue their mini revival under Zidane.

However, much like the aforementioned price for a home win, sourcing value from this fixture will prove to be tricky for punters.

Eye-catching prices are scarce in the goals markets with a home win and over 2.5 goals in the game looking a bit short at 8/13 (Ladbrokes) and backing both teams to score with the same firm is also  priced at 8/13 (Ladbrokes).

Brugge have been scoring freely – they have scored eight times in their last two matches- however, they will more than likely look to keep it tight and try to frustrate the hosts.

Therefore, Real may have to be patient, however they should breakthrough eventually – their superior quality is too good not to.

On a night where there will be no room for error for the home side, Zidane will be hoping for an early goal to settle the home crowd and should Real do just that then I like the look of the 10/11 (Coral) on offer for Real Madrid in the half time/full time market.

If the Galacticos were to go in at the interval ahead and subsequently fail to win this fixture then it would arguably represent the biggest shock of the group stage.

In conjunction with that the 3/4 (BoyleSports) that is available for Real to score in both halves of this tussle is tempting.

With the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard at his disposal, Zidane's side are well equipped to score at both ends of the Bernabeu against most sides in Europe and I suspect they could do so on Tuesday evening.

Furthermore, in their own backyard Real have racked up 20 goals in their last four meetings with Belgian opposition in the Spanish capital.

Despite a huge Summer spending spree in Madrid the aforementioned Benzema has been Real's go to man for goals this season.

The French forward has fired in five goals in seven starts this term and he is 29/10 (Unibet) to grab the opening goal of the game and 13/20 (Unibet) to score anytime with the same firm.

After bagging a brace in his last appearance at the Bernabeu, value could lie in combining a Real Madrid win with Benzema scoring at anytime – a combination which appeals at 10/11 (Unibet)

Good shout with Costa to score and be booked. Instead of 9/2 on offer at Hills go for same bet with Betfair’s bet builder and you can have 7/1.
