RANGERS restored some of their pride at the weekend with a hard-fought win over Motherwell and they have a golden opportunity to progress into the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup when they host Championship side Dundee on Wednesday.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side still looked like that 7-1 mauling from Liverpool was praying on their minds in the first half at Fir Park before clicking into gear after the break and running out deserved winners, although not without a late scare.
But anything other than a bloodless win here will have the knives out again for the Dutchman who really needs a flawless campaign leading up to the World Cup.
They host a Dundee side who were relegated last season and have not quite got into top gear in their attempts to return at the first attempt.
Gary Bowyer's team have blown hot and cold too often this season, but they did edge past in-form Ayr United at the weekend. However, they have produced a few shockers this season too like losing at Cove Rangers the other week.
This is a free hit for the Dens Park side and they could very well have a go here.
How the bookies view it
Rangers are obviously enormous favourites and are as short as 1/12 in places, although you can sneak a 2/17 with SBK.
Dundee are available at 22/1 with Paddy Power to spring a huge shock and the draw is 13/2 with McBookie.com.
Recent head to heads
The sides met three times in the league and once in the Scottish Cup last season and Rangers won every game.
Rangers have won the last 14 games in a row at Ibrox between the clubs.
Players to watch
Malik Tillman was Rangers' hero on Sunday with a fine solo goal and the on-loan Bayern Munich man will be a huge threat. The price reflects this at 6/4 with McBookie.com to score anytime.
Zak Rudden was always tipped as a potential starlet at Rangers, but never quite made the breakthrough. He's scored four goals for Dundee this season and is an interesting one at 6/1 to score with McBookie.com.
Anything else catch the eye?
With Rangers' defensive issues well documented and the hosts being far too short to back on their own, the obvious call again is something that came up again on Sunday and that's Rangers to win and both teams to score at an attractive 23/10 with Coral.
Dundee won't sit back here and have scored in 16 of the 17 matches they have played in so far this season. Obviously, this is a major upgrade but with nothing to lose, they should be able to contribute.
Rangers to win and over 3.5 goals looks to have a great chance with Paddy Power too at 7/5. Rangers should still have far too much firepower against Dundee and there should be goals at Ibrox.
