THE Champions League has been a cruise for Manchester City so far this season and fourth successive victory at Olympiakos would book their place in the knockout stage with two group games to go.
City's bid to regain the Premier League title they lost to Liverpool hasn't gone smoothly and they sit in midtable after a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at the weekend, a game where Son Heung-Min brought up my anytime scorer bet inside five minutes.
But it has been a different story in Europe, with Pep Guardiola's men winning every match by a margin of at least two goals, including a 3-0 battering of Olympiakos at the Etihad (below).
The Greeks also lost 2-0 at Porto so it would be a surprise if they defeated City in Piraeus, even though their only home group fixture so far ended in a 1-0 win over rock-bottom Marseille.
However, their domestic form this season has been impressive, going unbeaten in eight fixtures, and their only defeats this term have come against City and Porto.
So Guardiola's men can't afford to slack off if they want to keep the momentum in Europe going and secure that early slot in the last 16.
How the bookies view it
It's no surprise to see Man City as hot favourites and their best price is 33/100 at Unibet while Olympiakos are as big as 11/1 with Boylesports and the draw is 19/4 at BetVictor.
Given City have kept clean sheets in their last two Champions League games, the value bet could be an away win to nil at 21/20 with BetVictor.
Team news
Guardiola still has problems in defence with Nathan Ake and Fernandinho sidelined while left-back Benjamin Mendy is a major doubt. Sergio Aguero (below) was an unused sub against Spurs but it would be a surprise if he was risked here as City are wary of another injury relapse. After Kevin De Bruyne insisted some top players needed a rest, the Etihad boss might make a few changes.
Olympiakos' troubles are mainly in attack with Ahmed Hassan and Youssef El Arabi set to miss out along with midfielders Mathieu Valbuena and Vasilios Sourlis. Winger Bruma and defenders Ruben Vinagre and Jose Holebas are carrying knocks.
Players to watch
Raheem Sterling delivered for me when I tipped him to score in Marseille and he would also have netted against Olympiakos at home had it not been for a marginal offside call. The winger is 11/8 with BetVictor for a goal and that's decent value if he starts after coming off the bench at the weekend.
Kostas Fortounis scored Olympiakos' winner against Panathinaikos at the weekend and also netted on international duty for Greece last week. He's 23/4 for a goal here at 888Sport and that seems a little overpriced.
Anything else catch the eye?
Manchester City have scored in both halves of all their group games so far and a repeat here pays 11/10 at William Hill. In their last two Euro clashes they have also won both halves and that pays a decent 15/8 with Paddy Power.
Olympiakos full-back Holebas was always good value for a booking in his Watford days and is 5/2 at Bet365 to be carded here, which appeals if he is fit to play.
