Montenegro vs Czech Republic

, KO: 19:45 , Podgorica City Stadium
Czech Republic

Both seeking to return to winning ways in World Cup qualifying, Montenegro will meet the Czech Republic on Friday night.

After kicking off their campaign with wins over Gibraltar and Faroe Islands, Montenegro fell to a 2-0 loss away at the Czech Republic back in June.

That defeat has left Robert Prosinecki’s side occupying third place in Group L, three points behind the Czechs ahead of this week’s return match.

Thus, Montenegro will look to boost their qualification hopes and gain some revenge for good measure when the pair face off again on Friday night.

As for the Czech Republic, they saw their perfect start to the campaign come to a shuddering halt when being crushed 5-1 away at Croatia last time out.

Despite that bruising setback, Ivan Hasek’s side are still setting the pace in Group L, though it is worth noting that they have played one game more than second-placed Croatia.

How the bookies view it: Visitors to emerge victorious

The bookmakers' odds suggest that the Czech Republic will get back on track on Friday night, with an away win priced up at 4/6 on Boylesports.

Montenegro come into this match as 15/4 outsiders on Boylesports while a point apiece at the Podgorica City Stadium can be backed at 5/2 with the same firm.

Head to head: History against the hosts

As mentioned, Montenegro fell to a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this year. It's worth pointing out that the Czech Republic have now won each of their previous six matches against Montenegro, so they could hold a psychological advantage coming into this clash.

Players to watch: Schick to strike?

Having got himself on the scoresheet in the previous meeting between the pair, Patrik Schick looks well placed to repeat the trick on Friday night at 6/4 on Boylesports.

Montenegro will look to Stevan Jovetic for inspiration on Friday night. The experienced forward is a tempting 3/1 anytime goalscorer option with Boylesports.

Predicted line-ups

Montenegro will be unable to call upon the services of injured duo Igor Nikic and Marko Vesovic, both of whom featured against the Czech Republic in June.

Vladimir Coufal has been omitted from the Czech Republic squad for their latest batch of qualifiers, so fellow defender Tomas Holes could be asked to deputise at right-back.

Montenegro: Petkovic; Savic, Vujacic, Sipcic; Vucevic, Jankovic, Kuc, Radunovic; Vukotic, Jovetic; Krstovic

Czech Republic: Kovar; Holes, Vitik, Krejci, Zeleny; Sadilek, Soucek; Cerny, Sulc, Provod; Schick

Anything else catch the eye?

I'm more than happy to propose a play on under 2.5 goals on Friday night, which can be backed at 5/6 with Boylesports.

This selection would have proven profitable in two of Montenegro’s opening three matches in Group L, including their previous meeting with the Czech Republic.

Montenegro hit four corners when the two teams last went toe-to-toe, making the 5/6 (Bet365) about a repeat on Friday night well worthy of support.
