KILMARNOCK will be looking to land back-to-back wins in the Premier Sports Cup when they take on Greenock Morton at Rugby Park on Tuesday night.
Tommy Wright's troops were handed a 3-0 defeat against East Kilbride after fielding an ineligible player in their League Cup curtain-raiser with the Lowland League outfit.
However, Killie bounced back from that blow by bagging a much-needed 2-1 win over Clyde at Broadwood on Saturday.
That success means that the Ayrshire outfit are back in contention in Group G and they will be keen to continue their climb up the section when Morton come calling.
Gus MacPherson's men also have ground to make up after they were forced to forfeit their section opener against Stranraer before pinching a penalty shootout bonus point from their drab 0-0 draw with East Kilbride.
As such, Ton are propping up the pool so they make the trip to Rugby Park with their Premier Sports Cup fate hanging by a thread.
Outright Betting
Unsurprisingly, recently relegated Kilmarnock are heavily fancied here, with a home win trading at a lowly 1/3 with Bet 365.
Greenock Morton are 7/1 outsiders with PaddyPower while the stalemate is chalked up at 4/1 with the same firm.
Betting Angles
Kilmarnock will have earmarked this fixture with Morton as one where three points are crucial if they are to qualify from the group.
However, there is little value in siding with Killie at the aforementioned odds but we can get 3/4 (William Hill) on them to win and under 4.5 goals in the game and that appeals.
Tommy Wright is undertaking an extensive rebuild at Rugby Park after relegation from the Scottish Premiership and a heavy turnover in squad could take time to prove fruitful.
Having said that, Wright and Co laid some solid foundations for the season ahead with encouraging displays against both East Kilbride and Clyde respectively.
However, Morton's visit will represent a step up in class and given that Gus MacPherson's sides' are famed for pragmatism I suspect goals could be in short supply.
That said, I do fancy Kille to land another three points here but throwing under five goals into the mix looks like a worthy boost in price at 3/4 with William Hill.
I'll also dip into the anytime goalscorer market and take the 11/8 (Bet 365) on offer for Kilmarnock striker Innes Cameron to get on the scoresheet.
The young 6ft 3in hitman has put in some eye-catching performances in both pre-season and the Premier Sports Cup so far, and after notching against Clyde last time out, he is a tempting play to repeat the trick on Tuesday night.
