Inverness Caledonian Thistle vs Ross CountyScottish Championship, KO: 19:05 Mar 15, 2019, Caledonian Stadium
FRIDAY night football in the Scottish Championship continues this weekend as Inverness host neighbours Ross County in what should be another entertaining Highland derby.
Remarkably this will be the sixth meeting between the sides this season following a Scottish Cup double header last month.
However, if the recent cup clashes as well as league meetings from this season are anything to go by then there should be no shortage of action at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.
Buoyed from booking a Scottish Cup semi-final date at Hampden, Caley Thistle followed up their impressive showing at Tannadice recently by securing another fine away win last weekend by overturning Queen of the South 2-0 in Dumfries.
Winger Aaron Doran scored his seventh goal of the season at Palmerston and the Irishman could be worth backing to find the net again on Friday night at 7/2 (Sky Bet).
Although the Caley Jags can look forward to a trip to the National Stadium next month, John Robertson will be keen for his side to try and regain a place in the top four, which they have recently slipped out of. In doing so Inverness will be hoping that they can take advantage of having had a free midweek, unlike their opponents Ross County who defeated Falkirk 2-1 on Tuesday night in Dingwall.
Following their midweek victory the Staggies come into this derby as champions-elect and have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table to a massive 14 points ahead of Dundee United’s trip to in-form Dunfermline on Saturday. The recent injury to top scorer Billy Mckay appears not to have impacted on County’s bid to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt, having taking maximum points from their last five league fixtures.
However, despite such an impressive run the Dingwall side have only kept one clean sheet in their last 11 games in all competitions. After a stalemate in their opening league meeting both Inverness and County have played out three 2-2 draws this season as well as a 2-1 so there should be goals aplenty in the Highlands. Back both teams to score again at 8/11 (Bet 365).
In terms of separating the sides, expect another close encounter in which a score draw could well be the outcome yet again. Despite County topping the table I do not expect them to head back to Dingwall with all three points.
Although Inverness have failed to beat their neighbours in 90 minutes in five attempts this season, I suspect the momentum of Caley’s recent results will see them take something from this game, so back another score draw and BTTS in the Highland derby at 15/4 (Bet 365).
Please note: This game has been postponed but preview will be of use for when it's rescheduled.
