Inter Milan will be aiming to maintain their pursuit of the frontrunners as they host struggling Verona in Serie A on Saturday. The Nerazzurri are on a lengthy unbeaten run at the moment and should be too strong for the troubled visitors.
Sitting fourth on the table, 10 points off the pace, Inter Milan have a lot of catching up to do. However, they remain in with a shout and continue to hold up their end of things as they are currently unbeaten in their last 10 matches across all competitions.
A problem that persists for Inter Milan is their inability to maintain their discipline at the back as shown by the results in their last two matches. They twice threw away the lead to draw 2-2 at Monza in their previous Serie A fixture and were also taken to extra-time by lower league side Parma before claiming a 2-1 victory in Coppa Italia on Tuesday.
Despite their defensive problems, Inter Milan often find ways to come out on top, particularly at the San Siro where they have won their last four Serie A matches. Simone Inzaghi’s men have claimed some one-sided results in that run, including a 6-1 victory over Bologna while they also edged out Napoli 1-0 in their previous home fixture.
While Inter Milan are pushing the frontrunners, Verona have a different battle on their hands further down the table. They have claimed just two wins all season and are currently down in the relegation zone, six points from safety.
Verona are in desperate need of a turnaround in results and have shown some fight since the turn of the year, claiming four points from their last two matches. First, they played out a 1-1 draw at Torino before picking up a 2-0 home victory over Cremonense in their previous fixture.
While the result at Torino is likely to be a confidence boost for Verona, they remain winless on their travels this season. Marco Zaffaroni’s men had been on a six-match losing run before claiming that point in Turin.
