TWO clubs who appear to be heading in opposite directions meet on Friday night in the capital as Edinburgh City host Cowdenbeath.
Gary Naysmith's side have recovered from a ropey start this season where they lost their first two games and are unbeaten in their last four league matches where they have won three of them and drawn the other against a good Stirling Albion team.
But Cowdenbeath appear to be bracing themselves for yet another basement battle – in the last five years, they have finished bottom or second bottom three times.
This season, they haven't won in their last seven games in all competitions, have secured just one league win all season and are bottom of the league on goal difference.
Last week, the Blue Brazil were hammered by Stirling and they have conceded an average of two goals every game they play in the league.
It looks like a golden opportunity for the Citizens, who would go third with a win and even second if they thump the Fifers. And Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan will have to find a way to stop their slump quickly.
How the bookies view it
Edinburgh City are pretty short in most places, but you can get 11/14 with SBK for a home win. The visitors are 16/5 with Boylesports and the draw is priced up at 11/4 by bet365.
Recent head to heads
It was an away win each in their two league meetings last season, with Cowdenbeath triumphing 1-0 at Ainslie Park and Edinburgh winning 3-1 at Central Park.
Here's the acrion from the corresponding fixture last season.
Players to watch
Ouzy See has scored two goals in his last three games including in last week's impressive win at Annan Athletic.
Liam Buchanan has been a prolofic lower league scorer for many clubs in Scotland – his record stands at 187 league goals in 406 starts. The 36-year-old has alreadty scored seven goals in 14 games for the visitors.
Prices will be up before the game with McBookie.
Anything else catch the eye?
Edinburgh seem to be in a good place at the moment and their win last week at an Annan side who had been flying high showed just well they have been playing.
If SBK keep their 11/14 price then that has to be snapped up. The 8/5 by McBookie.com on a home win and a combined over 2.5 goals has to have a good chance given how poor Cowdenbeath have defensively this season.
The hosts were fast out of the clocks last week and, with their visitors low on confidence, could go for it from the start here and the 7/4 on a half time/full time win with McBookie.com has to have a bit of value too.
