It is first against second as Burnley host Blackburn Rovers in a top of the table clash in the English Championship on Sunday.
Burnley were beaten last time out in the Championship as they lost 5-2 to Sheffield United. They twice took the lead through a Jack Robinson own goal and an effort from Benson Manuel but suffered a defensive capitulation in the second half.
It is a testament to how well Burnley have played this season that they are still two points clear at the top of the table despite that defeat. Vincent Kompany’s men bounced back in the Carabao Cup in midweek, claiming a 3-0 victory over Crawley Town thanks to goals from Ashley Barnes and Anass Zaroury.
Sitting just two points above Blackburn Rovers, Burnley will view Sunday’s clash as a chance to extend their lead at the top. They are unbeaten at Turf Moor this season and have won their last four home matches.
Blackburn Rovers are only recently beginning to find their rhythm having found things difficult in August and September. They have won five of their last six Championship matches.
Rovers showed they can mix it up with the top teams after knocking out Premier League side West Ham in the Carabao Cup on penalties following a 2-2 draw in normal time. They were also victorious in their previous Championship fixture, picking up a 1-0 won over Huddersfield.
A small blemish in Blackburn Rovers’ fine showings lately is that they remain unconvincing on their travels. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men head to Turf Moor with six defeats in their last nine Championship matches on the road.
How the bookies view it
Burnley are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with SBK offering 8/11 for a home win. A victory for Blackburn Rovers is valued at 19/5 with William Hill while a draw is set at odds of 11/4 by BoyleSports.
Head to head

Players to watch
Striker Jay Rodriguez missed the Carabao Cup win in midweek due to injury and is rated doubtful for Sunday’s clash. Benson Manuel could be the one to watch in his absence and having found the net in three of his last four matches, is priced at 3/1 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run.
As always Ben Brereton will be the one to watch for Blackburn Rovers as he looks to add to his nine Championship goals this season. The striker has also scored in his last two matches and is priced at 5/2 by BetVictor to find the net on Sunday.
Anything else catch the eye?
Burnley and Blackburn Rovers boast plenty of quality in attack and both teams could be backed to score on Sunday at 13/14 with SBK. The Clarets’ last three matches have produced over 3.5 goals which is priced at 5/2 with Unibet while 10bet is offering evens for over 2.5 goals.
Burnley have scored in both halves in two of their last three matches and could be set for a similar outcome at 9/5 with Coral.
