Bayern Munich vs Borussia MonchengladbachGerman Bundesliga, KO: 17:30 Jun 13, 2020, Allianz Arena
BAYERN Munich will be aiming to take another step towards yet another Bundesliga title when they welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.
The Bavarians have been in breathtaking form since Hansi Flick took the reigns last November and an imperious run of 15 wins from 16 matches has left Bayern on the brink of a record-breaking eighth successive league crown.
The German giants flexed their muscles last Saturday when they fought back from an early setback to brilliantly dismantle top-four hopefuls Bayer Leverkusen (below) and by doing so Die Roten require just six more points to secure the championship.
A treble also remains a possibility for Bayern Munich after they booked their place in the DFB-Pokal final on Wednesday night following a 2-1 success at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.
This weekend's opponents, Borussia Monchengladbach, were the last team to topple Bayern in the Bundesliga, however, the Foals title bid has since faltered and they have given themselves work to do in the chase for Champions League qualification.
Marco Rose's men go into the weekend occupying fourth spot but they could slide out of the top-four should Bayer Leverkusen better Gladbach's result when they travel to struggling Schalke on Sunday.
Bayern Munich are targeting a tenth Bundesliga win on the spin this weekend and a home win is heavily fancied at 4/11 with Ladbrokes.
Indeed, Bayern Munich will be without lethal duo Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller this weekend, however, Hansi Flick still has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal and I fancy the red machine to continue motoring towards the Bundesliga title.
There is little value in backing a Bayern win at general 4/11, however, an alternative angle that I like look of is for Bayern Munich to score two or more goals , Bayern Munich to take five or more corners and two or more Gladbach bookings which looks nicely priced at 11/10 with PaddyPower.
The Foals will still be faced with a pretty formidable looking Bayern Munich frontline and they will be hard-tasked when trying to deal with the pace and trickery of the likes of Ivan Perisic, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, amongst others.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that Gladbach have registered just one shutout across their last 13 league matches, I'm happy to back Bayern to make the net bulge at least twice on Saturday evening – something the home team have managed in eight of their last nine league games.
What's more, Bayern have a number of technically gifted midfielders and two very adept full-backs – all of whom could threaten Gladbach's fragile back four, and therefore I'm happy to back the hosts to hit five or more corners here.
I do also fancy the Foals to pick up at least a couple of cards in this contest given that they rank fourth in the yellow card table – something that I discussed on this week's edition of the Gambla Betting Podcast.
Yet, for all of Bayern's brilliance, they are defensively vulnerable and that was evident last weekend when Leverkusen struck twice, not to mention Frankfurt bagged a brace at this venue a few weeks ago.
Marco Rose's side carry an attacking threat of their own, with French forward Marcus Thuram the pick of the bunch having bagged 10 goals and weighed in with eight assists in what has been a brilliant maiden season in the Bundesliga.
Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gladbach get on the scoresheet here in what could be a high-scoring contest and that line of thought has lured me towards the 5/6 Paddy Power are offering for there to be 3+ match goals, 3+ match cards & 6+ match corners.
The aforementioned combination clicked during Bayern's midweek win at home to Frankfurt as well as their stylish win away at Leverkusen last Saturday, and I like the look of a repeat this weekend.
