Aston Villa vs Burnley

, KO: 14:00 , Villa Park
Burnley

Aston Villa have sparked their season into life with three successive wins and will be looking for another victory to move up the Premier League table when Burnley come calling.

Unai Emery's men got off to a dreadful start in the new league season, scoring just once in their first five games as they collected three points.

But they followed up a Europa League win over Burnley by defeating Fulham 3-1 at Villa Park last weekend as a 13/8 card bet salvaged something for me.

Villa kept the momentum going with an excellent win away to Feyenoord on Thursday and will be looking to push on against Burnley.

Scott Parker's side lead the market for relegation at just 4/11 and currently find themselves in the bottom three after collecting four points from six games.

But Burnley have been competitive in almost all their matches, coming within seconds of holding both Liverpool and Manchester United, so they will be looking to take advantage of any European hangover from Villa.

How the bookies view it: Burnley written off

With Aston Villa's form picking up, it's not a big surprise to see them as BoyleSports' 4/7 favourites. But Burnley look a bit overpriced at 11/2 and the draw pays 14/5.

Recent head to head: Villa well on top

Burnley's recent record in this fixture hasn't been great, with the Clarets winning just one of the last eight meetings. They last faced off in season 2023/24 and Villa won 3-1 at Turf Moor before claiming a 3-2 victory back at home.

Players to watch: A good day for Buendia?

Emi Buendia's introduction off the bench helped swing the game Villa's way last weekend and he scored for the second game in a row against Feyenoord. He's 11/4 at BoyleSports to keep his hot streak going and 6/5 to either score or assist with Bet365.

Jaidon Anthony has been Burnley's biggest goal threat this season and has netted four times in six appearances. He's 10/3 at BoyleSports to keep that hot streak going but I'm more drawn to the 6/5 on offer at Bet365 for him to have an effort on target.

Probable line-ups

Villa still have injury issues in midfield, with Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley and Youri Tielemans set to miss out again along with defender Tyrone Mings.

Burnley are set to be without Jordan Beyer and Zeki Amdouni while Connor Roberts is a doubt.

Aston Villa: Martinez, Cash, Torres, Lindelof, Digne, McGinn, Bogarde, Buendia, Elliott, Rogers, Malen.

Burnley: Dubravka, Walker, Hartman, Esteve, Ekdal, Florentino, Cullen, Laurent, Foster, Anthony, Tchaouna.

Anything else catch the eye?

Although Villa won last weekend, they still didn't play particularly well and scored with three of the four shots on target they had.

Burnley have conceded three or more in all their away games so far this season but I've a feeling Emery's side might find it hard to break them down so I like under 2.5 goals at 20/23 with BoyleSports.

Burnley midfielder Josh Cullen is usually at the heart of the action the Irishman picked up 12 yellows for club and country last term. He has yet to go in the book this season so some indiscipline may be overdue and he's 3/1 at 888Sport for a card.
