HANDS up if you hate betting on your own team. I don't like touching Scotland or Clydebank matches and I'll certainly never back agains either although I've been tempted to do so many times.
However, I’m happy to relax one of my rules today and back Scotland to gub Georgia.
On current form and recent displays Gordon Strachan's men should win at Ibrox and it’s three points he needs if he's serious about joining the Euro 2016 party in France.
A term I dislike is “banker” but I noticed in the excellent RFO (a must-buy on Tuesday as far as I'm concerned for the stats alone) they have chosen two this week – Scotland and Wales at home to Cyprus on Monday. Why they didn’t choose Spain in Slovakia the other night I’ll never know!
Let’s hope they’re right about Scotland and I’m taking a 1-0 or even 2-0 win against the Georgians, bossed by former Dundee and Newcastle star Temuri Ketsbaia.
Scotland played well in losing 2-1 to Germany in Dortmund and are a biggest 8-11 at Betfred to win and 21-10 at Paddy Power on the -1 handicap – a bet for the more optimistic punter.
It was Ikechi Anya who netted our goal in Germany and the Watford winger is 13-1 at 888sport to hit another opener.
But my money will be on Steven Naismith who is enjoying a superb start to the season with Everton. His strike at Man Utd last weekend was his fourth of the season and the ex-Rangers striker is 11-2 joint favourite with Steven Fletcher at McBookie to break the deadlock.
To net at any time Naismith is 2-1 at bet365 with comeback striker Fletch 7-4 at the same firm.
The other games in Group D feature Republic of Ireland v Gibraltar and Poland v Germany and I’m siding with the favourites.
Ireland are no bigger than 1-50 at William Hill to beat the minnows who lost 7-0 at home to Poland in their opener.
Another rout is on the cards – and it’s all about how many the Irish will bag. The safest bet looks to be Ireland minus three at 4-9 with Coral while minus four is 21-20 with the same firm.
Record scorer Robbie Keane will be looking to add to his tally and is 5-2 with McBookie and bet365 to score first.
World champions Germany huffed and puffed to beat the Scots and won’t get it all their own way in their grudge against the Poles. The Germans are poor value at a best 11-20 at McBookie so I might focus on goals with both to score paying 4-5 at Ladbrokes.
Thomas Muller hit a double against Scotland and the World Cup Golden Boot winner is 4-1 to break the deadlock again. Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, who helped himself to four against Gibraltar, is 13-5 at boylesport to score at any time for the Poles.
New top tips sponsors 10bet have a special offer today and go 4-1 on Germany for new customers. To access the deal click here: http://partners.10bet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_26634b_1419
Elsewhere in the qualifiers Northern Ireland should see off the Faroes and are 2-7 with William Hill and bet365.
On the domestic front Hearts will be again be well backed for their trip to Alloa. The Jambos are leaving no stone unturned as they attempt to beat Rangers to the Championship title.
Last week I said they were worth backing at even money away to QoS with boss Robbie Neilson insisting the plastic pitch would help rather than hinder them.
I’ve been even more impressed with the fact the Jambos hired the artificial Recreation Park at a cost of £320 to train there ahead of today’s meeting.
It’s the kind of preparation that’s marked Neilson out as a top boss of the future and should give his men the edge. Unfortunately you want get anywhere near evens with the best price on the away being 2-5 with the likes of McBookie and William Hill.
For just better than evens take Hearts -1 at 11-10 with Paddy Power. Hitman Osman Sow has banged five goals in his last six games, including a strike last week, and is worth a look at 4-1 at Paddy Power to net first.
The only other game in the Championship is inconsistent Hibs at home to Dumbarton. Hibs, who were held by Raith at Easter Road last week, look too short at 11-20 with Ladbrokes against a side they beat 3-2 at home in the League Cup earlier this season. A better bet could be both to score at 10-11 with Coral.
In England my best bets are Coventry away to a Crewe side with the worst record in English football. Crewe have collected just four points and conceded 29 goals.
Coventry’s form is patchy but team spirit isn’t. While Crewe striker Marcus Haber’s away with Canada international strike partner Simeon Jackson has decided to stay and play for Steven Pressley’s men who look well priced at 6-5 with William Hill and Ladbrokes and that's my Super Single.
League One leaders Bristol City are one of four sides unbeaten in England and should make it four wins in a row at Ashton Gate against Chesterfield.
In League Two best bets could be Exeter at home to Hartlepool as they aim to be the first side since 1990 to notch a fifth consecutive 2-1 win. That pays 9-1 at McBookie.
Bristol City looks a good super single…..having said that i got 4 winners yesterday in euros…they were Iceland, croatia, czech n israel.
Today Serbia,Romania and Germany should all win….you can possible add Scotland.
Accrington Gillingham and Witton Albion also look a good shout to win.
Any thoughts on my picks Mr F are welcomed.
Coventry City -1 @ 29/10 with Coral
A great bet, putting a reasonable sum on this and doubling it with Portsmouth who look good against poor travellers Mansfield @ 23/20
Double pays a little over 7/1
backed a 5 fold yeaterday czech republic italy belgium netherlands and iceland paid out a sweet 7/1 noiice
Scotland all the way. I got them on Monday morning at 4/5 and glad I took it then as they have moved too 4/6. Georgia’s away record in qualifiers are shocking. In the last 20 years it’s 6 wins , 6 draws and 36 loses. Wins came against the likes of Lithuania Moldova and the only quality team they drew with in the last 20 years is Turkey.
Mr F you are not picking AFCON teams today…what do you think about NIGERIA, IVORY Coast, and Algeria?
syommex, didn’t have time to look at them. Need to go or I’ll miss the kick-off.
I buy the RFO too Mr F.
As for the guy at the top tipping Bristol City as a super single,
on paper they do look good.
But the way my team are playing at the moment, Chesterfield, I won,t be backing Bristol City, could be another 3-3 draw.
