WEST HAM impressed on their last outing at Newcastle as Sam Allardyce, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll made their former team suffer.
The Hammers have taken a decent haul of 18 points and unlike fellow promoted sides Reading and Southampton have adapted quicker to like in the top flight.
That's partly down to the experience of Sam Allardyce who knows what it's all about at this level. West Ham are back on home soil to take on a Stoke side who have set the standard for teams coming up. However, this season Tony Pulis's men are finding it tougher going and goals have been a problem.
Stoke have gather just three points on their travels and netted just five times so there's every chance they'll leave Upton Park empty-handed. In fact their last away success in the Premier League came at Blackburn in January.
Charlie Adam's goal earned Stoke just their second win of the season last week against QPR but before that they'd failed to net against Norwich and Sunderland.
A word of warning though. I'm as confident about West Ham beating Stoke as I was Fulham seeing off Sunderland. Fulham looked the better side until Brede Hangeland was sent off in the first off. Slightly harsh but very harsh and incidents such as that can make life hell for punters.
It's one reason why you should never bet more than you can afford to lose even if you strongly fancy your selection.
Anyway I'm on the Hammers at a biggest 21-20 with the likes of William Hill and Paddy Power and for first scorer Nolan must have a chance again at 7-1 with bet365 and Ladbrokes. Nolan netted the goal at Newcastle last week and had one wrongly ruled out for offside in West Ham's last home match – a commendable 0-0 draw with Man City.
Carroll, looking for his first goal for the club, is 11-2 at Coral and William Hill to break the deadlock but the player I'm taking a chance on is midfielder Mark Noble.
He gets forward well from midfield, has a decent shot and takes penalties. Noble is a biggest 14-1 at Coral but I'm considering taking 12-1 at Ladbrokes.
The Magic Sign will refund losing stakes if Noland scores first or last so backing Noble there gives you a bit of insurance.
Recommendations
West Ham
(21-20, various)
Noble to score first
(12-1, Ladbrokes, stake refunded if Nolan scores first/last)
I know many of you don’t like betting on foreign lower league matches, but Fc Wil, at home to Lugano, in the swiss challenge league tonight are priced up at evens. Any similar match up in this country would result in a 1/2 price at best…well done yesterday Paul, and all others who had a profitable day. Agree west ham should win tonight, can see a 1-0 or 2-1 score line. Hertha Berlin also look a decent bet in German 2nd division.
Im backing
West ham
Hertha
Lokomotiv (1:45pm) kick off!
Paul what you think about orduspor v trabzonspor? Im thinking bts?
Dale, it’s not one I’ve looked it. I tend to focus on the top European leagues because I can’t keep up to date with everything.
Might not bother tonight, picking teams i wouldnt normally go for.
Treble to win
west ham
hertha Berlin
roma
.
Not got great confidence in those teams and i could see those games btts too.
just noticed that Paul roma have been rotten for a while whilst torino not lost in last 5 away games roma destroy them H2H but a suppose that goes out the windy as theve not played each other since 2009 fancy a card in westham-stoke between 1-15 n 16-30 @ 9/2 n 11/4 both teams no strangers to yellows n reds
Danny and Mr Broke it, I’m happy enough with West Ham and Hertha but as I said earlier Roma are struggling at the moment. Just had a look at the Racing Post who have tipped a draw so they’re worried by Roma’s form too. What about that Swiss side FC WIl suggested by Luke? I’m not doing much tonight, just an interest on West Ham because I’ll be watching that game in the office, and I’ve already started looking at the Champions League games. Best value bets on Tuesday look like Braga and BATE but that’s an early thought. And for Chris Guy you can have 11-1 Mulgrew to score and 7-1 Wanyama to score. Both are big prices if you think Celtic will do well in Benfica.
Yeah mrfixit im not confident on it.
In my opinion this game has a draw written all over it, I think it will be either 0-0 or 1-1 … Both teams have a big guy up front and I will also be backing both Caroll and Crouchy to bag a goal each tonight …
Danny you are right to suggest both teams like to pick up cards both teams like a scrap, However just take note that the referee tonight is Chris Hoy and he has so far overseen 8 League games, and has dished out the fewest cards per game than any other official in English football’s top flight.
thats good thinking AC its never crossed my mind to check who the referee is not a regular bet of mine but good to know for future card n penalty market bets
No worries pal … Just want to point out Its Chris Foy not Hoy as i said orginally lol … It may still be worth a punt thou mate seeing as Stoke play rugby and West Ham like to stick a boot in
Om thinking hertha to score over 1.5 goals and btts in the turkish game
Benfica will win something to nil. Celtic don’t have a chance in Portugal
Tony, before the tournament started I’d have agreed with you, 2-0 or 3-0 Benfica. But Celtic’s results deserve respect and you can’t ignore the fact they scored two in Moscow and one in Barcelona.
Anyone else looked at that swiss challenge league game? I’d like to be confident with it, but I’ve only got form to go by. The form only points to one possible outcome, but as we all know, anything can happen in any game. Just look at Norwich beating united, and Celtic beating Barcelona for two perfect examples. But I can’t not beat on Fc Wil at those odds. Hopefully it’s not the usual case of what seems that the bookies know something we don’t
Bet, not beat.
I think this match is too obvious a West Ham win, much like Fulham yesterday….I’m betting on a draw. Stoke are good at getting those
6 draws out of 11 this season (3 home 3 away) to be precise … i also like under 2.5 goals tonight … 82% of stoke games this season have been under 2.5
Mister Mr, as I’ve said in my piece no way is this a banker West Ham win. But my belief is they will edge it.
I fancy a draw as well. When I was 15 and in London I went to Upton Park and saw the same teams play out a 0-0 yawnfest. History can repeat itself and its 45 years later!
Lord Clegg, I hope you’re wrong but many a night I’ve settled down for the Monday night Sky offering and it’s finished 0-0.
William hill offering nolan to score anytime and west ham to win 3/1 for crouch to score anytime and stoke to win its 7/1
Just looking ahead 2 this weeks Champions League games, some decent value here I believe…….
Kevin Mitroglu anytime @ 7/2 Olympiakos v Schalke. Schalke’s defence isn’t their strong point,Olympiakos usually score away from home and this guy is in good form.
Alan anytime @ 5/2 Braga v Cluj. Same reasons as above really.
Ajax draw no bet v Dortmund @ 15/8. Was very impressed with Ajax v Man.City and they’re in good form. Also,Dortmund haven’t won away from home in the Champions League in a while
Jonathan, most of these make sense but Dortmund have been as impressive as any. Forget their record away from home. They are much better than that this time and were unlucky not to win in the Bernabeu.
Orduspor v Trabzonspor – Btts
Hertha Berlin v St Pauli – Hertha
West Ham v Stoke – west ham
Roma v Torino – Both Teams To Score X
Real Sociedad v Rayo Vallecano – over 2.5
What do you think guys ?
FC Wil looks a decent value bet Luke. Just checked on exchanges and put them on at 2.1. Also put a treble on..
Hertha to win and overs in the Real Sociedad and Orduspor games. £10 returns £55
Yeah I think they are good value too! That treble looks pretty solid on paper as well!
Hi are u sure match west ham??? Tell me plz. I play 2000€ but i want know if is sure %?
Andronis, how can I be sure? It’s simply a prediction not a declaration of what will happen. There are no sure things in football. Look at Celtic v Barca, Norwich v Man Utd as recent examples. The closest you’ll get to a sure thing is when bookies know it and price it up as 1-100 or 1-50. West Ham are available at evens so bookies are saying half the time they’ll win the game and half the time they won’t.
Ok what i play west ham???
Andronis, as I say it’s no cert. I’ve tipped up the game because it’s Monday’s live TV offering and people want to know my thoughts. There’s no reason for you to punt big on this when you could wait for a better opportunity on another night. Also if you are betting with such big stakes you can afford to build your pot up slower by backing sides who are more likely to win at prices about 1-4 or 1-3.
Your right Paul they have done very good a must admit that. A fancy benfica though need to win and have some record at home. A will go for 2 or 3 nil.
Evening Mr F! When you get a minute or two, could you let me know this Saturday’s lottery numbers please?
Much obliged! ;)
I’m a stoke fan and in tony pull is we have a manager who has taken us as far as he can. He plays players out of position and is totally negative we couldn’t score last year so now we play with crouchy on his own up front with Walters out wide. My tip would be a narrow west ham win possibly 1-0 or 2-1. Pullis will play for a 0-0 so my advice would be if you want to be entertained watch something else.
Ok mr fixit, i play 1200€ west ham
Andronis, it’s not what I advised you to do but hey it’s your money and you call. I hope it comes in for you.
I can’t see many goals tonight – I’m usually wrong though. What do u think? Over 1.5 is 5/2 but its prob to much of a risk for me?
Robbie, it certainly has the feel of an unders game but 2-5 is poor. The problem is it could be 0-0 or 1-0 but an early goal or a sending off could change everything. That happened at Fulham yesterday when a match that maybe looked like 1-0 Fulham could have ended about 5-3 to Sunderland after Hangeland’s red card.
Sorry should say 2/5
Got to agree, trouble is this one could be 0-0 but then again it could also be a both team to score
Gone for…….
West Ham
Hertha
FC Wii
Bradford Park Avenue
Little Monday evening Acca!
Don, that’s the right policy. A little Monday acca is the way to go.
I agree about Dortmund Paul, they seem 2 b over a wee rough patch a month or so ago as well. 15/8 draw no bet for the home team is still big enough 2 tempt me tho
Jonathan, Ajax have done OK in a tough group but German league is stronger than the Dutch one.
I only put on a small £5 6fold in the end
Pandurii
Rapid Bucharest
Hertha Berlin
West ham
Pisa
Fc Wil
Returns £105
Ive went over 2.5 tonight. Just feel both teams will fancy gettin 3 points and could bring goals.
As always, turns out bookies must’ve known something that form most definitely didn’t suggest
Luke, what do you mean by that? Bookies priced up West Ham as warm favourites. They’ve started poorly and lost a bad goal. In the Premier League the team that turns up will win and that’s why I advised against betting big on this game to the punter earlier.
This Wil game is a bit eerie. They’re temporarily playing in a 20000 seater stadium, and it sounds like there’s about 12 people there!
Don, all right. Forgot about that one to be honest. Don’t like betting on games I’ve got no idea about it.
I think he meant the Swiss game Mr F.
Ooh! 1-1! (Swiss game!)
It just seemed a really good price considering they’d won 4 out of 5 and the away lot hadn’t won in 5. But then again, bookies aren’t daft…..
Don, fair enough but the lower the standard the more chance of form going out the window.
Hold on for the draw at Upton Park…. Please
Mister Mr, looks like a draw now but at least West Ham gave it a go in second half and came close to a second a few times.
Yes Mr Fixit, West Ham had me worried in the 2nd half. I have never been so happy on a Monday night
Roma spoiled my bet , could have got £64 for 6 pound stake . Hertha Berlin v St Pauli -Hertha Berlin
West Ham v Stoke – under 2.5
Orduspor v Trabzonspor – Both team to score
Roma v Torino – Both Teams To Score
Real Sociedad v Rayo Vallecano -over 2.5
Jon, nae luck, decent attempt.
Called it right … Get in
Goodnight mr fixit. Can’t wait for tommrow with champions league.
A wee treble tomorrow nyte
Btts
spartak v Barcelona
valencia v bayern
cluj v braga
thoughts mrfixit
Mr Broke it, first two are on my shortlist which I’ll whittle down to five tomorrow but I’m mot convinced about Cluj who are struggling a bit under Paulo Sergio. They did win 2-0 in Braga but I’ll need to look more into how significant that result is when you look at current form. Remember there are League One and Two games as well.
Right tipsters thinking caps on for tomorrow we need to bash the bookies for christmas
I agree Mitchell.
hartlepOOl 2 win:)
John, what makes you pick Hartlepool after first game under John Hughes ended in a 5-0 home defeat at the weekend?
Yeah Paul you are due a five fold mate on btts. I will be staking a straight £50 on it. As you say tons of games to choose from too.
Chris, glad you have faith. Will look hard at the fixtures and make my final five selections tomorrow.
Yeah my comment was about the swiss game. I said earlier on during day the price was far too big considering they hadn’t lost at home, and away team hadn’t won, let alone recent form too. Certain prices do make you wonder what the bookies know that us ordinary punters don’t know. Never mind, only a 5a lost. West game would have let the bet down anyways
My btts tomorrow nyte
defo picking
Spartak v Barcelona
valencia v bayern.
the maybe games to add to it are
Cluj v braga
Colchester v coventry
hyde v alfreton
northampton v morcombe
afc wimbledon v southend
Think I’ll take btts
Spartak v Barcelona
valencia v lille
colchesrer v coventry
Hyde v alfreton
Teams to win
benfica
shaktar
swindon
my safe treble is barcelona,benfica,q.o.s
