MY Saturday change of tact worked to a certain extent with two winners, one loser and one void bet out of four.
It added up to a profit of 5.3pts but strangely I felt a bit underwhelmed despite a 3pts Super Single winner at evens on Cove & over 1.5 match goals and Arsenal bringing up the English both to score treble at 33-10.
My loser was the Scots both to score treble while my moneyback fivefold saw the stake returned for four out of five – my biggest-priced selection of Albion Rovers letting me down.
Profit is profit so I should be happy with that and probably go the same way next Saturday with a Top Treble thrown in.
Well done to all the winners on Saturday including Greg with his two main tips of Hibs to score 2+ and Dundee United to score 2+ and selectabet who had a winning double from his three goals picks.
Some big games to look at on Sunday with Spurs v Newcastle and Bournemouth v Man City and in Scotland it's St Mirren v Rangers and Celtic v Hearts ahead of Europa League second-leg ties on Thursday.
Top matches in Europe include Barcelona v Real Betis and Udinese v Milan so plenty of games to look at.
Price on the big favourites and a fivefold on City, Spurs, Celtic, Rangers and Barcelona pays just 17-10. They should all win but Barca have injury problems with Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele out but Lionel Messi is set to return. Bookies are certainly trying to tempt us with 2-5 and over 2.5 goals might be the best bet.
I'd planned to watch the golf from Atlanta last night but it was suspended for the night after lightning strikes at the course and let's hope the injured fans are all OK.
So it was a night in with the RFO instead and I've picked out a Top Treble. Not much standing out in the way of goals but I've picked out a treble that includes Barcelona v Real Betis. These games at the Nou Camp tend to produce goals with Betis winning there 4-3 and losing 6-2 three seasons ago – every chance they'll be on target again.
Five of the last six meetings between Samp and Lazio have brought up btts while City could net three on their own at Bournemouth if they're in the mood.
I'm starting with Celtic and over 1.5 goals at home to Hearts side they've beaten at home seven in a row and netted 23 times. Neil Lennon's side will be feeling better about themselves after beating AIK to stand on the verge of the Europa League groups and should beat a Jambos side that's not started the season but at least beat Motherwell last week to reach the Betfred Cup last eight.
Taking the win and over 1.5 goals gives the odds a nice boost and I'm taking the same bet with Spurs and Roma. Spurs face a Newcastle side that's started with two defeats under Steve Bruce and look on low confidence. They were spanked at Norwich and should stand little chance against a Spurs side who ended Man City's long winning league run last week after beating Aston Villa 3-1 in their opener.
Complete the treble on the opening weekend of Serie A and back Roma and over 1.5 goals at home to Genoa. Roma have won 13 in a row against their rivals in the capital and should ease past a side who avoided the drop on the final day last season.

When it rains, it pours. When you want a goal, you’re sometimes left biting your nails for the goal gods to deliver. But on other days, they come too early.
Yesterday was one of those days. The early kick-off Derby game yielded a goal around 5-6 mins via the penalty spot, so my advised strategy of waiting several minutes to strike your bet, went south. I picked 2 other games, Barnsley/Luton and Fulham/Forest. Both games went similar to the early Derby game. There were 2 very early goals in Barnsley – inside 6 mins, and I believe Forest scored on 6 minutes. 3 games – 4 goals in 6 minutes, you couldn’t make it up. I believe only the Blackburn game failed to yield a goal in the whole of the championship. But my day 3 stake of just over £16 is still at £16, so today on day 4, new games, a new start.
I’ve poked around, looked at the likes of the Man City, Tottenham and Utrect on Holland and as expected, the prices are pitiful. So I’ve looked to Italy. This is really just an early scan and Torino who were part of a 5 goal thriller midweek are around 1/16 SP for a goal. That kicks off early evening, so I’ve some time to try to find a game or too before then.
Don’t look at it as a missed opportunity, but a voided day of betting. It doesn’t harm this challenge, it just delays its progress a little. I know it would of worked in our favour to chase that 2nd goal in all of those 3 games, but when you go off script, it very often goes against you. 1 nil is the most common score-line in football.
If there is anybody that’s already had a look at todays games and feel you’ve spotted something between 3pm and 6pm kick off that you want me to take a look at, post it up and I’ll look for some red flags.
Just reply to this thread and keep these posts together, – this challenge is not everybody’s cup of tea.

I do think the Tottenham game will yield and the price is dreadful at the moment, hence take in play price. Apologies on the slow reply, other stuff got in the way. The City game yielded a goal on 15 mins, possibly some of you dropped onto it around 10-12 mins in. I’m hoping the Tottenham game is similar. Looks like the Swansea game had a 2nd half goal flurry. I personally don’t like to strike a bet after 20 mins, but having eyes on the game + in play stats can give you confidence it will do the biz. If you did get the 3/10 at ht, then that is a huge price in this type of challenge.
I’m on the fence with the Thun game in Switzerland. They had a 0-0 a month ago but ever since their games have been laden with goals. There is also only 4 league games played with 3/4 of them for both teams yielding goals. To me, that is a red flag.
If you do all your stat checks pre-game and see anything that give you a sniff of belief that a goal won’t occur, then it’s a red flag. When I see one, I bin the game, work my way through my short list of several games and by the time I’ve scrubbed a few that look iffy, I’m left with 2 or 3 that look good.
Overs 0.5 tmg’s day 4:
Austrian Top tier game SK Sturm Graz @ 16:00hrs. Price is only 1/20. I’m gonna take that as a single, the usual in-play wait. Naturally at this stage of the year, most leagues only have a handful of games to look at stats, but they’re both mid table, all league games have had at least a goal. Last years stats are largely irrelevant as every team changes its staff.
My advice on if you choose to go off script. Run it as a separate challenge, but don’t let the 2 bets conflict with the same match. It’s practically impossible to place a cover bet on this way of betting.
This Austrian game might work in our favour. Tottenham kick off 30 mins after. Theoretically if there is a late 1st half goal in Austria and the Tottenham game takes time to bed in, you could jump from one match to the next. Alternatively, pick one and ignore the other.

The Austrian game has delivered, the price in Tottenham is just 1/20, hoping it falls a few notches to around 1/14 – 1/12.
Wonder how many thought that Tottenham would burst the net first? The beauty of this challenge is we don’t care who scores. We’ve until 19:45hrs until the next victim. Torino is the Italian top tier. Again, the price isn’t great to start, but none of them are.

the thing with the over 0.5 challenge is it is effectively playing minesweeper with money yes you can have a great success rate but as the money goes up the more potential bombs will get closer
Yes, anyone can find a goal in a game, and stats and looking for red flags along with your go to C&%t list ( the ones that have let you down in the past ) will help you avoid them. I always advise paying yourself regularly and not trying to short cut by going off script. @the boss has hit his first £25 and banked a £5, so his rollercoaster ride is now half price. If he gets to £50 and banks again, he’s playing with the bookies money. It takes patience. The further I got on with it, the less bets I place. And the more ruthless I become in rooting out the bad games. I don’t wish to jinx anyone’s bets but a well known European heavyweight team is/has been on my naughty step for quite a while. I keep tabs on them and often see them earn some credibility back with me, but being bitten once by them was once too often.
