Monday’s Football Tips: Keep it Simm-ple with Easter Monday Bets

Ipswich Town were the big winners in the Championship on Good Friday after a defeat for Leicester City and a draw for Leeds Utd saw them go top of the table with a hard-fought win at Blackburn Rovers.

They’re back at Portman Road against fellow promotion hopefuls, Southampton, who dominated Middlesbrough but were sucker-punched in the 90th minute to drop two points, leaving them 10 adrift of the league leaders.

The Saints have two games in hand however so can put themselves right back in the mix if they can win tonight’s live game on Sky Sports.

It should be an entertaining encounter with both teams in need of the win and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the visitors nick it at 7/4.

Either way it should be close and for either side to win by a single goal it’s 6/4.

It’s now just one win in seven for Leicester who have slipped to third in the table. They’re up against Norwich in the early kick-off and the pressure is well and truly on.

The Canaries have lost just one of their last 10 (W7 D2 L1) to boost their promotion hopes and could spring a surprise against the fragile Foxes at 15/4.

Leeds look to have the easier game of the top three, they host Hull City at Elland Road at 8pm.

Daniel Farke’s men remain unbeaten at home and look solid picks to beat a Tigers side that have dropped out of play-off contention thanks to a winless run of six games.

Ellis Simms is a man in form for Coventry City. He’s scored an incredible 13 goals in his last nine appearances and is a generous looking 8/5 to net against Cardiff. The two sides shared five goals when they met in September so there could be more goals today.

Over 2.5 Goals looks over-priced at 43/40 at the Hawthorns where West Brom welcome Watford. The Hornets have found in the net in eight of their last 10 away from home whilst the Baggies have scored two or more in three of the last four on home turf.

In League One, Bolton can keep up their promotion hopes with a win against a Reading side who have second worst away record in the division.

Blackpool’s home record is only bettered by the top three and they’ve not lost in any of their last eight at Bloomfield Road. Visitors Wycombe beat the Seasiders earlier in the season and its 17/20 for Blackpool to avenge that result.

Charlton could also be worth a look at 7/4 to beat Stevenage at The Valley. The Addicks might be 16th in the table but they’re one of the form teams in the league, on a run of nine without defeat.

Stevenage boss Steve Evans will be in the stands again as his side attempt to end a run of seven without victory.

Both sides have drawn too many games this season so it could pay to keep the draw onside by backing Charlton at 5/6 in the Draw No Bet market.
