Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Bet 1 – Brazil vs Haiti – Saturday 20th June at 01:30am
The first-half data from Group C provides the most concrete statistical case for any bet at this tournament. Scotland generated 0.92 xG in the opening 45 minutes against Haiti, recording seven shots, six inside the box, two on target, 13 touches in the box and one big chance. They scored despite also striking the woodwork in a dominant first-half display.
Brazil produced virtually identical numbers against Morocco in their own first-half showing: 0.91 xG, six shots, four inside the box, two on target, nine touches in the box and one big chance. Carlo Ancelotti's side also scored before the interval in that fixture.
Brazil now arrive as Haiti's second Group C opponent carrying superior attacking talent to Scotland. Vinicius Junior and Raphinha offer pace and directness that Haiti's defensive block has already struggled to contain against physical, well-organised sides. Scotland are a credible opponents but Brazil at 1978 Elo are a different proposition entirely.
The World Football Elo gap of 443 points between Brazil and Haiti is among the largest remaining in the tournament. Haiti have shown in their opening match that they concede first-half chances consistently and at volume. The evidence across this group is as consistent as tournament data gets.
- Bet: Brazil to score in the 1st half
- Odds: 1/4
- 10 units returns 12.50
