PSG find themselves in a second successive Super Cup after claiming back-to-back Champions League titles with a penalty shootout win over Arsenal earlier this summer.
As for Aston Villa, they brought their silverware drought to an end by comprehensively defeating Freiburg in last season’s Europa League final.
It’s no surprise to see PSG come into this clash as 8/11 favourites on bet365.
However, as I tend to do, I’m instead going to turn my attention to a player-based selection.
The angle of attack that has caught my eye is Matty Cash to be fouled at least once at 4/5 on bet365.
Admittedly, the Aston Villa right-back is perhaps better known for committing fouls, but he also earns his fair share of free kicks for his side.
That is underlined by the fact that Cash was drawing an average of 0.89 fouls per game in the Premier League last season.
Further encouragement comes from the fact that fouls won per 90 figure shot up to 1.30 per game in last season’s Europa League.
The direct battles that Cash could find himself involved in during this contest only add to the appeal of siding with this selection.
The Poland international is likely to come up against both Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes, who averaged 1.10 and 0.87 fouls committed per 90 minutes respectively in Ligue 1 last term.
So, with all things considered, Cash looks good value to be brought down at least once in Salzburg on Wednesday night.
