I WAS quite happy to settle for a 2-1 treble yesterday – and it's fine if you have the stake to make it worthwhile.

Udinese got us under way with victory in the morning game, Juventus notched a nervy success that clinched the title in the afternoon and 10 hours after Udinese kicked off it was Napoli who sealed the success with a hat-trick against AC Milan.

Daniel Sturridge to score let the single down and the both teams to score line never got started so the top treble was a welcome winner.

We're beginning to count down to the end of the season in England and Scotland but there are three big matches today.

In the Premier League Sunderland take on Stoke needing a win to climb to the magic 40-point mark – which this season doesn't look as it if will be good enough to beat the drop – and leave Newcastle fourth bottom before Wigan's game in hand against Swansea on Tuesday.

It's a huge match for Paolo di Canio's men and have you to back the Italian to pull off a another result after the disastrous defeat at Aston Villa.

Stoke don't give much away so it should be a close call but I'm chancing a slender home win at 6-5 with Titanbet.

The problem for both sides is of course scoring goals with Sunderland netting 18 and conceding 17 at home in 17 league games and Stoke scoring just 11 away and letting in 21.

All the stats point to a game of unders but bookies know that too so under 2.5 goals pays just 11-20 at Titanbet.

Picking a first scorer or anytime scorer is just as tough and I can see no scorer being backed at
6-1. But as I'm on Sunderland I have to find a player and take away injured Steven Fletcher and banned Stephan Sessegnon and it's Craig Gardner with six who is the top scorer.

Gardner, who takes the penalties, is 9-1 at Titanbet and 3-1 to net at anytime and he's be my first choice. Danny Graham hasn't scored for the club since signing from Swansea but is 6-1 favourite.

I looked at deadball expert Seb Larsson who always seems to find the target with free-kicks but he's netted just once this season so I'd want better than 12-1 or 4-1 anytime.

For Stoke the main threat is likely to come from 15-2 shot Peter Crouch or 8-1 chance Jon Walters.

The League One play-offs are also finely balanced and while I can see Brentford edging out Swindon after a 1-1 away draw and Sheffield Utd, who are better on their travels, may do enough to qualify against Yeovil after winning the first leg 1-0.

I'm not confident about either outcome to be honest but the Bees at 4-6 with Coral to qualify looks on.

My Super Single comes from Spain where fourth-placed Real Sociedad will take a giant step towards clinhcing a Champions League spot with a victory at Getafe.

They are unbeaten in 15 league games and a victory will move them five points clear of Valencia with theee to play. Getafe have lost three in a row and Real look a decent bet at 11-10 with Titanbet.

I'm starting my top treble with Benfica who face one of their biggest games of the season at home to Estoril. Victory would leave the unbeaten leaders four points clear with two games to go and allow them to drop something at Porto on Sunday and still take the title with a home win against Moreinense.

And of course after Porto they face Chelsea in the Europa League so they must take three points tonight to give them some breatheing space. Benfica are just 1-6 with Titanbet but they are backable minus one at 11-20.

Anyone feeling more optimistic can take -2 at 6-4 but sixth-placed Estoril lost their previous away game 2-0 at Porto. And Benfica, who have conceded just seven goals at home, are 11-10 at Ladbrokes to win to nil.

Add French Ligue 2 promotion chasers Nantes who are 1-2 at home to Clermont. Nantes are close to sealing a move back to Ligue 1 and should beat a side who crashed to relegated Ajaccio last weekend.

Complete the treble with Serie B leaders Sassuolo at home to Padova. Sassuolo have wobbled a bit in the past few weeks with three successive draws which means they are just two points clear of Hellas at the top with this game in hand.

Moving five ahead with just two games to go is a massive incentive and if they can overcome nerves they should be able to beat a Padova side without a win in four and who lag 29 points behind them in the table. Sassuolo are 9-20 with Titanbet to get back on track.

I'm not saying too much about the both teams to score treble but I like the look of Drogheda v St Pat's with Drogheda's last six seeing both score and the top-of-the-table derby between Sligo and Derry which should be fiery.

Add the Odense v Midtjylland which was flagged up earlier and all the stats point to that being a both teams to score formality – if there is such a thing.

Im sorry mr f for the stupid comments on your page after the game on sat .I was pissed after a bad losing spree but it happens evrybody . looking for a safe 2/1 double with r .socidad in mind but hoping you will call a good bet .

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

luke, don’t ask for safe 2-1 doubles, there’s not such thing. As soon as you go 2-1 the odds suggest you will win once out of three. If you are wanting safe bets then you should be looking at 1-4 or 1-5 shots and even though sometimes they let you down. People who bet shouldn’t use words like “sure thing”, “safe bets” and “bankers”.

Morning all, I agree about Goteborg, who look the real deal this season in Sweden. If they win they go Top, and have started the season strongly with 4 wins and 2 draws, only conceding a couple of goals. They had a good away win midweek, albeit against newly promoted Oster in the Cup. AIK look like they have been pretty hit and miss this season, and lie foutth from bottom in 13th on 6 points (8 less that today’s opponents. However I expect this form to pickup as they finished 4th last season. 21/10 is great value for away win on the form side. Good luck,

“Chasing losses”….a few people talk abt this but never elaborate, its has to be done correctly, if you win you bet more if you lose you bet less, this way u should always be in profit or so they say

Most peeps bet more if they lose this is the road to oblivion what are your views on this guys?

Any good staking plans out there would be good to share

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

jimbos, I’ve always said don’t chase losses. Pick an amount you can afford to lose every week and if you lose it stop. Staking plans are great but everyone’s different so they need to be personalised to what someone can afford.

  8. Scott mcilroy 11 years ago

Research. Look. Earn money and then choose a bet or bets u like that u can afford and not gonna cry about. Simple

  9. John 11 years ago

It’s never a good idea to go and chase your losses, for a start your not thinking straight and betting out of frustration not from confidence, of course there’s a chance you can win back what you lost but if it’s alot of money you really shouldn’t be gambling with it and if it’s a small amount then just let it go, i’ve chased losses many times but it’s never a good idea

    • RabTheHermit 11 years ago

Jimbos, I agree with John. Never go chasing your losses as the chances are you will just accumulate more. I saw a tipster once doing a system of using £10 double at evens and if it lost then trying to cover with £20 double at evens and so on citing the usual “I’ve never had X number of losers in a row”. Very quickly it got stupid after 5 or 6 losers in a row and worse than that people were actually copying him. Chasing losses is a dangerous game.

    • Guido 11 years ago

      Rab i agree…chasing losses no good….far better off chasing tail!!! ;-) ;-)

Hey Paul,,have you any ‘contacts’ at Radio Clyde??? I was in doing a wee bit of work (not DJ work,,lol) but had a great we chat with wee ‘Shebahn Littlejohn’,,,thinking about filing for divorce.lollol,,,nah,,a wee cutie and also from your neck of the woods I believe…..btw she added me on twitter:)
Another wee question for you Paul,, I went to school in Milton with Gary Ralston now sports writing for them (the sun)lol,,did he not work at the ‘Record’ many years ago???

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

SilentJoe5, my only Radio Clyde contact now is Hughie Keevins of course. I used to pop in now and again years back when I worked at the Clydebank Post and did some Clydebank games for them when they were a good senior side. As far Gary Ralston goes he’s still on the Record sports desk working away hard so I’ll tell him you were asking for him. Watch out for his wacky Saturday column which is pretty good.

    • 1plus2 11 years ago

    • Guido 11 years ago

haha take it 1plus2 no a fan of Clydebank then :-) Paul, maybe u shood donate 10 percent of yerlarge inflated wage from the Record every monthg to help the club get back on their feetseeingz they’ve got hardly resource…a bit like the Moonies..donate 10% for the priveldege tio worship sorta thing …then could maybe organise a huge wedding for hunners of couples on the pitch as well..charge em £25 quid a hitch!! :-)

Paul,,r.e. Gary Ralston,,,we went to different schools (Gary) Miltonbank, me, StAugustines,,,so he may remember me as the wee winger who humiliated him each time we played for our school teams,,lol,,he may claim not to remember this but we both went to an acting audition in partick burgh halls, age 15,lol,,thing is,,,,i think he got the part !!! and was never seen again, yip just left me in the ‘acting gutter’,lol….

Jasper,I like the look of that odense v midjtylland game for BTTS, will look into it in-play and do a single hopefully the odds get better than the current 8/15, which is an indication that the bookies feel this has a strong possibility of coming in.

  23. RabTheHermit 11 years ago

Speculative treble early doors on the Russian National League. The riskiest selection is Kuzbass who have nothing to play for against a side pushing for a play off place but they have a strong home record and have a chance I think.

Spartak Nalchik v Sibir Novosibirsk, Spartak Nalchik @ 4/11
Metallurg Kuzbass v Baltika Kaliningrad, Metallurg Kuzbass @ 23/10
Torpedo Moscow v Tom Tomsk, Both Teams To Score @ EVS

Haven’t looked through the later games yet but fancy BTTS in the Braunschweig game. A lot riskier is BTTS in the Benfica game but Estoril are a good little team and I would not be surprised if they at least scored. Olomouc and Sociedad wins look good too. Even though Shelbourne have had a crap start to the season they host an even worse Bray side so evens for the home win is appealing.

The last time i had Midjtylland in a BTS bet they played Aalborg and it was up within 20mins or so, can’t see their game against Odense being much different so maybe 8/15 is the price to take

The play-offs and Prem game tonight look too close to call, and I hate doing Unders, as it’s a killer watching the games – not that watching Liverpool/Everton and Man u/Chelsea yesterday was a mountain of fun with Over 3.5 Goals singles on each – but for a bit of interest tonight, I’ve taken a fourfold on the Irish games with Paddy Power‘s team to win either half coupon.

They’ve obviously thought a lot more about this than I have, but I can see that coupon offering a degree of insurance for odds-on teams slipping up…

Anyway, a small stakes fourfold on Sligo 8/15, Shamrock R 4/11, Shelbourne 1/2 and St Patrick’s 8/13 to win either half pays at just over 5.

    Good luck today, everyone…

    Brentford VS Swindon

This should be a good game,Ill be putting the pimms down and coming in from the sun to watch this, and I expect the Bees to win. For me personally Brentford are the better team, they have already done the double over Swindon this season and at 7/5 various to win I’ll be on.

As I belive Brentford will win I need to find a Goalscorer and Betvictor go 7/4 anytime on Clayton Donaldson. Donaldson has netted 18 times this season.

Ive seen some other guys tipping under 2.5 goals and I see their logic, but its just my view I think this could be a exciting game and im taking the 5/4 at betvictor on the game going over 2.5 goals.

    Benfica v Estoril….catches my attention tonight…

A very important match for both teams,,a win for Estoril would take them into a Euro Qualification place but will Estoril be the 1st team to beat Benfica this season, in the Lge, I just dont think so.

A win tonight would leave Benfica only needing a draw at Porto nxt week to clinch the league at their rivals home ground.
There is no value on a probable Benfica win so im on ‘goals’ tonight,,

I have a problem with a bet which was placed on Bet365, and I would appreciate any help on the matter. I backed MOIK to win at home against Goyazan Quazax in the Azerbaijan First Division with a -0.5,-1 handicap. Although the game finishing approximately an 1hr and 45 mins ago, I still cannot find the result, despite looking on Soccerway, Flashscores, Xscores and Livescore. It appears that the result is not relevant now as Bet365 has now voided my bet.

    Here is their message

    “Hi Dean,

We are contacting you regarding bet ID DG7332644410I placed at the odds of 1.750 on FK MOIK -0.5,-1.0 (Asian Handicap FK MOIK v Goyazan Qazax). We have identified that this selection was placed after the outcome was already known or a material advantage was gained and as such, in accordance with our rules, the selection has been made void.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards,
    The bet365 Team”

Now, I suspect that my bet wasn’t successful, otherwise Bet365 wouldn’t kindly decide to refund my stake and void the bet. More to the point though, I placed the bet at 11:35; 25 minutes before the game kicked off and I certainly didn’t possess any material advantage. Again, help would be much appreciated, and if you could look out for the score that would be great

Only a stoppage time goal by Swindon denied me a full house, but if you hit on 2 out of 3 bets, you won’t go far wrong, anyway onto tonight.

I know it may seem daft after they got thumped 6-1 last week and have key men missing but I just have a fancy for Sunderland tonight, they owe their fans a performance and I think they will deliver tonight.

Finding a goal scorer had me looking at Graham and Crouch, but I’ve settled on Adam Johnson, I wonder weather he will play just off the striker and if he does he got more chance of scoring, he is 19/4 to net at betvictor.

like the earlier game the common consensus is this would be an unders game and its easy to see why, if this was played months ago it screams 0-0, however just my opinion I reckon it will be over 2.5 goals as its a big match for both teams and an early goal will definitely help land the bet.

thechief, Sunderland have to win, there’s nothing else for it. If they play the way they have in every game under di Canio except the Villa one they can do it. Anyway, I’ve just given bookies a tenner. Was looking at prices on the game, thinking what to do and next minute I’ve hit the wrong button and put any unquoted half-time correct score which means one team has to score at least three in the first half and there’s no chance of that. Price was 22-1 but I wouldn’t have been tempted by 100-1.

thechief, Sunderland are done for now, crazy challenge by Gardner to get sent off.

  52. thechief 11 years ago

Cheers Greg, Millwallpunter. Striker nearly a full house but that’s football. Good luck tonight lads

Just gone for a little treble Benfica to win, Sunderland Win/Draw and Olimpo B blanca under 2.5 goals for the match. Pays 2.20.

  55. thechief 11 years ago

Mr F it its a tough one to call, you can never say never in football but 3 goals in first half you would deserve 100/1

  56. John 11 years ago

Well again it was more than one team that let down the BTS treble, i know i said it’s better if more than one let’s it down i’m starting to wish i’d never said it now :-)

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, not the best night to put up a treble to be honest. Definitely going to cut back on them.

  57. thechief 11 years ago

Yep it would appear that way Mr F, last thing Sunderland needed was a red card.

Ronnie o’Sullivan just won the snooker 18-12 I tipped him on the snooker thread that was running, so happy days

  58. conor 11 years ago

stoke -1.5 what you reckon.. big price even now

    Benfica v Estoril

Estoril certainly holding their own in the 1st half,,,,
Estoril 16/1 to hand benfica their 1st defeat,,,,who knows its been a crazy few days,,,dont think a wee fiver will be missed from the weans pocket money, lol…

    Bonkers bet : Benfica 0 Estoril 1 @16/1

  60. thechief 11 years ago

Milesey, I did 50 on Ronnie and Robertson, not sure wat it says about the state of the game, maybe Hendry will come out of retirement, well Jimmy White may finally win one :)

    • Milesey 11 years ago

Jimmy still tries, but still can’t get through the qualifying stage, maybe if he took a year off, then came back he would win it ;)

Milesey, I’d rather watch a veterans tournament with the likes of White, Drag, Hendry and Virgo. Would be much more entertaining.

………… and steve davis if you fancy a nap ;)

  62. SilentJoe5 11 years ago

And BOOM,,theres the equaliser 1-1,,,,Benfica were a juicy 3/1 to win just before they scored,,,thats where the wise money went:):)

  63. SilentJoe5 11 years ago

Cardoza next goal,,9/2 :):) and thats me before i blow the mortgage money, lololo

  64. SilentJoe5 11 years ago

    Benfica 1-1,,Martins (B) sent off !!!!! damn,,,need one goal either team,,cardoza preferably,,,10mins left

    • Duarte 11 years ago

Martins is a nutcase. If you see his cards record is terrible. First yellow was for complaints, second was a harsh tackle.

In the first 10 seconds Lima had a header alone with no pressure and sent it directly at the goalkeeper.

Stupid match that could cost Benfica the title. Last year we were 5 points ahead only to lose it all. I fear this year it will be the same. Jesus has to be sent packing because 1 championship in 4 years is nothing. Don’t forget he is the 14th most well paid football coach.

Sorry about my venting but Benfica just has these types of mental collapses and it pisses me off. As a matter of fact Benfica could very well have lost the match.

Now it’s all on the line against Porto next weekend.

    • RabTheHermit 11 years ago

I agree Duarte. Jesus should go if he Benfica don’t win the title this season. For me this is the worst Porto side for the past few seasons. Benfica looked tonight though like a long season is taking its toll. Should be a cracking match at the weekend.

    it’s another manic monday…

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

Nikola, not much went to form tonight. I was saved by a big punt on under 2.5 goals at Stoke and even that nearly went tits up at the end.

  66. Satoshi Honder 11 years ago

Braunshweig game letting me down. Still, 2 out of 3 BTTS is a good try.
A fiver gone, but judging by some of the results from people who regularly tip…It could’ve been alot worse.

The chief, that was a good call on the Brentford game well done.

  67. John 11 years ago

Small stakes both to score trebles is not a bad thing, even on what seems like good days to put one up they can still let us down, might be 3 matches found tomorrow with the 2 premier league games on

    • Mr Fixit 11 years ago

John, I’ll see but I don’t want to put them up for the sake of it.

  68. Sam 11 years ago

Big punt on Stoke after the red card really topped today off :/

    Time to look at tomorrow’s.

  69. Guido 11 years ago

Watching an interview there Ronnie O’Sullivan interestingly saying Stephen Hendry is the best player to ever play the game..absolutely correct Ron…and one of the main differences is that Stephen actually had respect for the game first and foremost…cant say that about you pal…dunno if I’ll play, dont want to play,im bored. hatr life, hate myself/dunno if |I’ll ever play again.. got 8 weeks to kill so thought I’m bored give it a go shit..YAAAAWN…whata tosser. Fantastic snooker player/one of thr best ever no doubt, but a “grade A” NOB!! :-(

  70. Smiler arbroath 11 years ago

Guido, spot on with everything you ‘v written about. O’sullivan but what a talent no characters in the snooker just now

  71. bttsfootballtips 11 years ago

Hendry in his prime would destroy O’Sullivan, Hendry had a far Better temperament and patience but could be aggressive at the same time with the talent to back it up

  72. Guido 11 years ago

Smiler/BTTS no doubt O’Sullivan is a fantastic snooker player, absolutely not in question…I just tire of his shit to be honest..dunna want to play/dont like the game/wanna do something else/bored/depressed/unhappy/wanna do something with myself etc…wish he’d make his mind up…bugger off if your not interested but gie us a break from the crap. Snooker has been very good to him. In fairness I watched a total of 4 frames live throughout the 2 weeks..seen the day when I’d watch 6 hours a day..dunno if that says something about me or snooker TBH?? Also he’s in tow with that sultry Leila Roauss…what the F%%%s he got to complain/moan about??!! :-)
