ALL the money is on Man Utd tonight but they are just 3-1 with Ladbrokes to endure a trophy-free season and finish outside of the European qualification spots.

The bookies also make the side odds-on at 8-13 to fail to win a trophy as well as specifically missing out on the Champions League, with 10-1 the price that they salvage their season by lifting some silverware as well as ending up within the top four.

There's further bad news for David Moyes as well as the firm make him 8-11 to leave the club without winning a trophy, while it's 1-1 he manages to get his hands on at least one piece of silverware before his reign at Old Trafford comes to an end.

Despite the problems for United punters are yet to lose faith with 90 per cent of match stakes against Sunderland in their favour. Ladbrokes have also been forced to cut their price for the title to 80-1 from 100-1 after they were the subject of a £1000 bet online.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We didn't even price up the no top four and no trophy specials at the start of the season. The quotes coming through now suggest they will scramble for a Europa League place at best despite one large-staking punter keeping the faith for the title.”

    G’day

‘one large-staking punter keeping the faith for the title’

Man, I feel for this guy. Usually, there is no impossible in football but that is just it. Even if the others stumble, I think it’s Manchester City’s year.

    Morning folks,

Going off the betting path for a minute. Do you Mr F, or anyone for that matter, think it might be better for Moyes to lose tonight rather than get to the final?

Was talking with my brother last night and right now the gulf in class between the two sides looks huge. If United reach the final they could ship 3 or 4 goals on City’s current performances, and that one wont go down well with the fans. But correct me if im wrong wouldn’t Man U guarantee Europa League by reaching the final, seen as City are CL shoe-ins?

    Just some thoughts,

    Andrew

Good point Andrew but imagine what it would do for Moyes and and Man Utd if they somehow managed to beat City at Wembley! He would be forgiven for the rest of a poor season.

Andrew, no way do Utd want to lose. Firstly, a cup final at Wembley against Man City will bring in decent revenue and while City are the better team just now Utd will strengthen in this window and have Rooney and Ven Persie fit so they’ll give City a game. Winning tonight also buys Moyes a bit of grace – lose and there are no trophies this season.

      Hey Mr F,

Cheers for the reply! Been a bit prolific on this thread so will keep it brief. Not suggesting they want to lose of course. Just thinking that if we looked back in one year’s time losing to Sunderland in the semis would be less hurtful than getting thumped by City in the final.

As you say though, big players to come back, and that could mean everything towards addressing the quality gap in a one-off match!

Andrew and others, posting the survey results before hitting the golf course. Will answer queries when I get back but please note we have made no decisions on any changes yet.

    Morning raal,

True enough mate it would be heroic. Raal can I just say couldn’t post last night, was rooting for your ANC tips, some quality profits on that comp, and I wouldn’t have looked at it twice without your guidance so cheers. Only reason I mention it is because obviously the idiots were out in force yesterday, and the one who posted at 2-0 didn’t have the stones to come back and apologise! You beautiful man!

Delighted you made some cash from it Andrew. Knockout stages will be good for BTTS games, bookies will price them up in favour of one or more NOT to score which is what we want mate.

Man utd must sign a few players before end of month and if mata does go that’ll be a great signing for them, according to papers and twitter it coukd be done today but think mourinho will want rooney in return if any of it’s true, Swansea won league cup last yr and they went straight into europa so you’re right saying it’ll guarantee European football next season, chicharito has to start tonight tho and can see him getting 2 or 3

    True enough Craig,

Don’t want to offend any fans so ill keep it light but ive grown up with a lot of Utd fans, who after 20 years of success are I suppose understandably expectant. Signing Mata would be a real coup for them, I cant believe it looks like it might happen. Id love him down at Cardiff but that’s never going to happen.

Surprised Liverpool haven’t had a look though. Coutinho’s pure class but on anyone’s left Mata would walk into the side. Not sure if Mourinhos a genius on this one or making a mistake!

No way are Man.U going to sell Rooney the now.Chicharito to score 2/3 don’t think so Man .u. will be happy to get that in team goals tonight.Sunderland will be trying like bears to get to this final too and remember Wigan.By all accounts Roon/VP are nearly ready so if Man.u. did reach the final they would give City a game its a one off.

Never said in straight swap just now but Rooney could well go at the end of the season depending on what happens this month and where man utd finish. As for Chicharito getting a couple gls tonight we’ll see if he starts 1st as I think man utd will put 3 or 4 past Sunderland. A big reaction from the team imo

    I agree Craig,

Unfortunately with games like this anything can happen. I can see two opposing likely scenarios though. Scenario 1; A big performance from United. They are more than capable of putting 4 past a leaky Sunderland defence, and could wrap it up in the first hour. Scenario 2; Sunderland go for it. They’ve got a lot of ex-united players, who know what it means to play at OT and wont be overawed. Borini has got a goal in him and the class to show it. They’ve given the big teams very good games and are playing a nice open brand of football. Somebody mentioned Adam Johnson in the other thread and hes looking like the player he was now.

Personally, I don’t think im touching this one. I like BTTS but probably not confidently enough to back it.

Rooney to score 1st? Odds is 11/4 with Ladbrokes.

I think Utd should bite the bullet and let rooney go to chelsea in exchange for mata. At the start of the season, my opinion was that he shoudlnt be sold to chelsea but given the circumstances now, sorting out the Utd squad should be the only concern.

fears about strengthening chelsea are a bit irrelevant now. Realistically, it will be 3 years or so until utd are challenging chelsea for the title again, by which point Rooney will probably be past his best anyway.
