The new Ligue 1 season is finally underway as Paris Saint-Germain look to dominate the domestic scene for another year and claim what would be their fifth straight title.
Here, we take a look at who punters may opt for when it comes to backing the Ligue 1 top goalscorer for 2025/26, as a number of games have already been played in the new season.
Best Ligue 1 top scorer odds
Ousmane Dembele (3/1)
With 21 goals from his 29 appearances in France's top flight last season, Ousmane Dembele will be heavily backed to repeat that kind of number. As many as 16 of his strikes came from December onwards, and he may be difficult to catch.
Interestingly, Dembele is currently out injured at the time of writing after going down on international duty with France. The forward still had two goals to his name prior to his injury though, and is only one away in the Ligue 1 top goalscorer charts as it stands.
Mason Greenwood (3/1)
Mason Greenwood finished level with Dembele at the top of the Ligue 1 goalscorer charts in 2024/25 and that will make him fancied to challenge the Ballon d'Or candidate this season. In the 2024/25 campaign, Greenwood netted five times in his first three appearances for Marseille.
Very much like Dembele, Greenwood is also on two goals for the league season so far. The English forward is currently the joint-favourite with Dembele to win the Golden Boot at the time of writing.
Bradley Barcola (6/1)
Bradley Barcola's brace in PSG's 2-0 win against Lens at the Parc des Princes just after the September international break took his tally to three goals for the Ligue 1 season so far. This makes the France international winger the joint-top scorer at the time of writing.
Given that his club and international teammate Dembele is currently injured at the moment, Barcola's odds may come in even more should he continue his fine form. Indeed, it is set to be a thrilling race for the Golden Boot.
Our Ligue 1 top scorer prediction
As it stands, it would still come as a real surprise if the 2024/25 winner, Dembele, is not at the top of the list. The PSG attacker surged his way to the award by netting 16 times across his final 16 Ligue 1 appearances of the season, making him the likely and rightful favourite for next season’s prize.
However, after he picked up an injury, there are a number of other players that could also be backed, even in the league's early stages.
