The new Ligue 1 season is finally underway as Paris Saint-Germain look to dominate the domestic scene for another year and claim what would be their fifth straight title.
Here, we take a look at who punters may opt for when it comes to backing the Ligue 1 top goalscorer for 2025-26, as a number of games have already been played in the new season.
Best Ligue 1 top scorer odds
Mason Greenwood (9/4)
Greenwood finished level with Dembele at the top of the Ligue 1 goalscorer charts in 2024-25, which makes him a likely candidate to challenge the Ballon d'Or winner this season. In the 2025-26 campaign, Greenwood hasn't exactly had a quick start, netting just twice in his first seven matches.
Bradley Barcola (3/1)
Barcola's brace in PSG's 2-0 win against Lens at the Parc des Princes just after the September international break took his tally to three goals for the Ligue 1 season so far. This puts the France international winger inside the top five scorers at the time of writing, along with more than a few other players.
Given that his club and international teammate Dembele is currently injured, Barcola's odds may come in even more should he continue his fine form. Indeed, it is set to be a thrilling race for the Golden Boot.
Ousmane Dembele (7/2)
With 21 goals from his 29 appearances in France's top flight last season, Dembele will be heavily backed to repeat that kind of number. As many as 16 of his strikes came from December onwards, and he may be difficult to catch.
Interestingly, Dembele is currently out injured after going down on international duty with France. The forward still had two goals to his name prior to his injury, though, and is only one goal away in the Ligue 1 top goalscorer charts as it stands. His injury has affected the odds of him winning the award, but Dembele will have plenty of time to catch up.
Mika Biereth (10/1)
Last season, the Danish international scored 16 goals for Monaco, and he'll be hoping to top that this season. However, Biereth hasn't started the new season well at all, and he is still looking for his goal of the campaign. He will have to get going sooner rather than later, or he risks falling too much behind.
Our Ligue 1 top scorer prediction
As it stands, it would still come as a real surprise if the 2024-25 winner, Dembele, is not at the top of the list. The PSG attacker surged his way to the award by netting 16 times across his final 16 Ligue 1 appearances of the season, making him the likely and rightful favourite for next season’s prize.
However, after he picked up an injury, there are a number of other players who could also be backed, even in the league's early stages. Still, considering the fact that Dembele is only the third favourite right now, it seems like a good value for money bet to back the defending Golden Boot winner.
