After 27 rounds of Ligue 1 action, there was very little movement in the race to finish as the top goalscorer in France this season.
With Kylian Mbappe no longer around to hoover up the prize on an annual basis, let's take a look at who the current frontrunners are to finish as the leading marksman in the French top-flight this term.
Best Ligue 1 top scorer odds
Ousmane Dembele – 1/25
Ousmane Dembele remains comfortably out in front at the top of the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts. The French forward currently leads the way with 21 goals for the season and is now as short as 1/25 for top goalscorer honours.
Dembele has now racked up 16 goals across his last 11 appearances in Ligue 1, putting PSG in pole position to retain their title in the process. Currently six goals clear of the chasing pack, Dembele is very much in the driving seat for the award.
Mason Greenwood – 12/1
Mason Greenwood is the 12/1 second favourite to end the season as the top goalscorer in Ligue 1. The former Manchester United man moved on to 15 league goals for the season after scoring against Nantes on matchday 24. However, after failing to fire since then, the 23-year-old now trails the aforementioned Dembele by six goals in the top goalscorer race, making him an unattractive 12/1 option.
Jonathan David – 16/1
Jonathan David has drifted out to 16/1 third favourite to take the top goalscorer prize this season. That is despite the fact that the Lille ace has scored in two of his last four Ligue 1 outings. However, it’s worth noting that David has scored just three goals across his last 11 appearances in Ligue 1.
Consequently, the Canadian star is now seven goals off the top of the charts. While David does have course and distance form in this market, he will have to quickly rediscover his shooting boots if he is going to make a late rally for the prize.
Bradley Barcola 50/1
Bradley Barcola bagged his 13th goal of the season on matchday 25, scoring in back-to-back league games for the first time since October.
In fact, Barcola has scored just three times in his last 15 league outings. As such, the French international's odds for the top scorer award have drifted out to 50/1. Given the form of his teammate Dembele, Barcola looks too far back to make a serious claim for the award.
Our Ligue 1 top scorer prediction
Given the current lay of the land in the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts, Ousmane Dembele remains the obvious option to take the award, however the 1/25 quote holds little appeal. The 27-year-old has been in the form of his life in recent months and he is going to take some stopping for the top scorer award. Now at the top of the charts with 21 goals and a six goal buffer, it’s hard to make a case for any of the other contenders to overtake the red-hot Frenchman.
