After 30 rounds of Ligue 1 action, things have gotten a little more interesting in the race to finish as the top goalscorer in France this season.
As we head down the home stretch, let's take a look at who the current frontrunners are to finish as the leading marksman in the French top-flight this term.
Best Ligue 1 top scorer odds
Ousmane Dembele – 1/33
Ousmane Dembele remains out in front at the top of the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts, leading the way with 21 goals for the season. As such, the French forward is as short as 1/33 for top goalscorer honours.
However, it is worth noting that Dembele’s last goal in Ligue 1 was over one month ago. Given that PSG already have the title sewn up and will be focussing on the Champions League, there is scope for the chasing pack to close the gap on Dembele at the top of the leaderboard.
Mason Greenwood – 12/1
Mason Greenwood could be gearing up for a late charge to take the top goalscorer award. The Marseille forward made the net bulge twice during his side’s 5-1 mauling of Montpellier on Saturday.
That brace means Greenwood is now on 18 league goals for the season and just three strikes behind the aforementioned Dembele. The former Manchester United man certainly merits consideration at his current price of 12/1.
Jonathan David – 100/1
Despite ending his goal drought with a brace against Lille last time out, Jonathan David is a whopping 100/1 in the race for the top goalscorer prize. The Lille talisman is now on 16 Ligue 1 goals for the season, meaning he is five behind PSG pacesetter Dembele.
With David set to be in demand as a free agent this summer, he will be keen to end the season with a flourish. If the Canadian star can add to his tally against Angers this weekend, then the above-mentioned 100/1 quote will almost certainly shorten.
Bradley Barcola 250/1
Bradley Barcola started the season in brilliant form but he has been unable to maintain those standards since then. In fact, Barcola has scored just three times in his last 16 Ligue 1 outings. As such, the French international's odds for the top scorer award have drifted out to a towering 250/1. Given the form of his teammate Dembele, Barcola looks too far back to make a serious claim for the award.
Our Ligue 1 top scorer prediction
Given the current lay of the land in the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts, Ousmane Dembele remains the obvious option to take the award, however the 1/33 quote holds little appeal. The 27-year-old has been in the form of his life in recent months and he is going to take some stopping for the top scorer award. That being said, PSG could prioritise the Champions League now that the Ligue 1 title is in the bag. Thus, the aforementioned Greenwood and David certainly offer value at what are bold prices heading into the final month of the season.
