Another World Cup campaign kicks-off for Scotland and England tonight, KevMac digs out his best bets in tonight's two matches.
Scotland v Austria
STEVE CLARK will be hoping the feelgood factor from reaching Euro 2020 can propel Scotland to a win over Austria in the World Cup qualifiers tonight.
That epic win over Serbia ended a 23-year wait to grace a major finals but it only came after we qualified for the play-offs via the Nations League.
That safety net has been removed for this World Cup campaign so a victory over Austria at Hampden in the opener will be crucial to our hopes of reaching Qatar 2020.
Games at Hampden haven’t been thrillers under Clarke, with just four goals scored in Scotland’s last four games.
This could be tight again so I fancy under 2.5 goals at 4/6 with McBookie while the half-time draw also appeals at 21/20.
The Austrians are unbeaten in six, winning five, so they are 6/5 favourites to win, with the Scots 23/10 and the draw the same price.
Nine of Austria’s last 10 goals have come after the break so backing the second period to be the highest-scoring half could pay off at 5/4 with SportNation.
England v San Marino
England begin with a home clash against minnows San Marino and it’s surely just a case of how many they win by.
But the goal markets aren’t great, with even over 5.5 goals as short as 3/10 with McBookie.
There could be some value backing San Marino in the handicaps where they are 5/4 with Betway for a seven-goal start.
Elsewhere, I’m doubling a Poland victory in Hungary with a home win for Italy over Northern Ireland. That pays 140/100 at McBookie.
Super singles
- Half-time draw at Hampden (21/20, McBookie)
- San Marino + 7 handicap (5/4, Betway)
McBookie star bet:
- John McGinn always gets stuck in and the Scotland midfielder is 23/10 to be carded tonight.
