Scottish Communites League Cup 1st rd, Balmoor, Tuesday, 7.45pm
AWAY from the glam of the Champions League, humble Balmoor hosts the opening Scottish Communities League Cup clash of the season.
Peterhead v Dundee takes place tonight because the draw was made before the Dens men were catapulted into the SPL.
It's a tie at the wrong time for a Dundee side still coming to terms with their promotion. They launch their top-flight return just four days later and must have one eye on their visit to Kilmarnock.
Boss Barry Smith has been moaning that his side is down to the bare bones and insists he'll be on the bench having not played for more than two years.
So Peterhead could be worth a look at a biggest 9-2 at Paddy Power even though this is essentially a Division Three team v an SPL outfit. William Hill have obviously seen some money on the game because their coupon states Peterhead at 5-1. However, when I placed a bet this morning I only got 7-2 – and I wasn't told. Naughty!
Up front Peterhead have Rory McAllister, who would be playing at a higher level if he wanted to go full-time, and he's always worth a goal but my one concern is that the club, who will be the first to meet Rangers in the Third Division, lost at home to East Fife in the Ransdens Cup last weekend. So a better bet might be to take them plus one goal at 13-10 or 3-1 draw no bet.
For anyone who totally disagrees with me Dundee are available at 4-7 with Skybet.
Recommendation
Peterhead draw no bet
(3-1, Paddy Power)
hi Paul, your comment about not being told brought back memories of Saturdays fixtures. i strongly fancied Raith away to Wick and Morton at home at 4/9 and 1/2 respectively which worked out a shade above 11/10
lo and behold after placing the bet a quick glance showed both prices at 4/11, naturally i wasn,t a happy bunny. i was gonna stay and ask whether they are duty obliged to let you know but i let it go
maybe one to take up with your contacts at Wm Hill
being not afraid to name and shame it was Prestwick branch
Robert, they should tell you and in the past my contacts at William Hill have asked me for names of shops where it doesn’t happen. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand prices will change, even printed ones on coupons, but when placing a bet you have to be told because sometimes you won’t take it if it’s been severely cut.
Paul William hill are an absolute joke when it comes down to cutting prices on football coupons. Prices are cut on almost every team. William hill are def worst out of all the bookies for doing this. Price changes are rare in other bookies, maybe the odd team.
I sat in the bookies for almost 3 hrs playing the roulette machines and I’m telling you, every time someone went up with a coupon all I heard was, there have been a few price changes is that ok. That was one of the better shops were they actually tell you if there is a change in price. I once put £40 on a treble 8/11 10/11 and 4/5. The 10/11 changed to 4/11 and they didn’t even tell me. I handed it right back to them and got my money back
Chris, I don’t do too much shop betting these days so not sure about who is worst but Peterhead price was bigger in shops than online, well it looked that way. Football betting is so popular now that price changes are inevitable but I do hate when they don’t tell you and it happens about half the time.
cheers for the replies guys, i,ll take the positive out of it and say it was a winner although it returned a 4/5 double
