THE women's European Championship kicked off today with Italy v Finland but the game I'm more interested in is Sweden v Denmark (7.30pm, live on BBC3).

Hosts Sweden are third favourites for the tournament and look set for a decent run, probably all the way to the Final and a potential meeting with Germany.

They are a best 4-6 with Paddy Power and should win but they will be given a game by fierce rivals Denmark.

I was looking for first-scorer prices but haven't come across any although strangely William Hill offer 2-1 on Sweden to win and Lotta Schelin to score.

Schelin has netted 39 goals in 18 games for Lyon this season and is second favourite in the top scorer market at 5-1 with William Hill.

Leading scorer is likely to be Celia Okoyino da Mbabi who hit 17 during the qualifying campaign. She is 5-2 at William Hill.

Well what can we do MrF, 2 missed pens for Sweden, the first of which was from Lotta, the fickleness of football slams 2 potential winning bets down the drain!

Great game though and very impressed with the standard.

    Roll on the real season!!

Carl D, had thought about watching it but instead looking out tips for tomorrow. Didn’t know the Swedes missed two pens.
