GREG beat me to it with a winner on New Year's Day thanks to late goals at QPR and well done everyone who made a profit on Friday.

I wasn't in a great state to put up Friday tips but the good news is my Saturday ones were picked out before the Hogmanay celebrations.

I've posted English and Scottish betting previews and here are my top tips mostly from my Daily Record columns.

After much thought I've picked Motherwell as my main Super Single and I'm having 1pt on Swansea draw no bet as just under 5-1 is too big a price.

Remember don't attempt all of these bets and be particularly careful with the long shots.

Every day in January I'll put teams to score bets on the forum and they'll be up in the morning.

Don't forget to check out our friends at We Love Betting for their latest tips and video chat.

Been trawling some stats on the forthcoming Middlesborough/Derby tie and I’m struggling to find any meat on the bone. The stats are so tight between the sides, top v second, 2nd best home record vs best away record, similar unbeaten in xx games, goal difference the same, tightest defence vs 2nd tightest. If I’m honest, Derby have been mis-firing a bit. The gaffer rested 3 key players for the away tie to leads which could be a genius move, but unless Derby give anything less than 100%, they may struggle to get a point. Middlesborough must fancy themselves for all 3 points, but it really is a 6 pointer. They have a game in hand on us and whilst a point a piece would probably suit both teams at this stage, if Borough win it AND their game in hand they could put 7-8 pts ahead of us. I’m not going to write off Derby because when it all clicks into place, we could tear anyone apart, but I’ve seen little evidence of that in this season. Yes, we’re 2nd, yes, we’ve turned our defence around with Shackells return, but we’ve not been putting in winning margins of 3 4 and 5 goals, the type of scores that puts the wind up people. I said a few months that we’ve become a bit ” bournmouth ” but you know they knew how to grind out a string of tricky wins on the road. Our away record is terrific, our whole season still only beaten twice and we’re past the halfway point which is very pleasing but this Middlesborough’s game is probably our toughest test of the season. I’ve no idea if stats will go out of the window as they did at Leeds, it could be a hard fought match with few chances ( probable ) but it could be end to end. I’m inclined to think much like the Leeds game, this could be ripe for a bag full of cards, sadly, the market for this is not currently available BUT. I will be on hand in about 14hrs to summarise the gaffers team selection and if there’s a price on the cards market, i’ll add that too, but its the only element of the game I’m confident of giving us a sniff at some value.

A little bit of something for the early risers or night shifters..haha..

    Brisbane roar vs Perth
    2nd top vs 2nd bottom..

Brisbane to win and over 2.5 goals 11/10.. (Could finish 2-1 or 3-0)
Over 11 corners in the match 13/8

I’m taking a skybet special of over 2.5 goals.over 45 booking points and over 11 corners at 17/2…
    £20 stake £170 return …

LEEDS v mk dons – evens
Leeds are on a roll now and are unbeaten in 6 with 3 wins and 3 draws but could very easily have a couple more wins. MK Dons are terrible away from home winning just once from 12 attempts this season.

    Charlton v Nottingham Forest DRAW – 5/2
All these two teams seem to be able to do recently is draw with Charlton drawing 3 in their last 5 and Forest drawing 4 from their last 5. Both teams drawing more than they have won this season. Past h2h’s suggest a draw also with the past 5 all being close and 3 of them being draws.

    NORTHAMPTON v barnet – 21/10
Northampton have to be one of the best teams for value this season, the bookies seem to constantly be pricing them high even though they have won 8 of their last 10 with just one defeat. Barnet really struggle away from home picking up just 1 win in their last 10 loosing 7 of them! Ill also be having a bet on Northampton to win and both teams to score at 3/1.
Barnet have seen both teams score in 8 of their last 10 away games and with 7 of Northampton’s last 10 wins also seeing both teams score i’m happy to take 3/1 here.

Good luck everybody, lets hope the first big card of 2016 is a profitable one.

leicester over 4.5 team corners @1.66
bouremouth have a good few injuries and are conceeding alot of corners. in last 5 games 9,9,4,7,11. though leicester havnt been taking many i feel theyl raise their game today.

northampton 1.5 team goals. in last 8 home gamed thryve scored 2+ goals in 5. Barnet in their last 5 aways have conceeded 2+ in all 5 gamed. 2 of these were against the likes of yeovil and notts county. so should be a very realistic target @1.83
    fulham v sheff w over 2.5 goals @1.80
both sides seen overs in 4/5 games so on current form youd expect goals here. maybe even over 3.5

    longshot wins
    leicester
    stoke
    walsall
    burton

    Espanyol – Barcelona – 15:00
    Espanyol:
    – Espanyol ended 2015 with a defeat, 0-2, away against Sevilla
    – After the first 17 stages, Espanyol ranks 13th in Primera Division with 20 points accumulated, and a goal difference of -12
    – Costel Galca it will use this match Pape Diop in after the last round has been suspended
    – Victor Sanchez and Arbilla are uncertain, and probably will not be forced to Galca in this confrontation
    – Last 6 games played for Espanyol in the Primera Division ended with maximum 2 goals scored
    – The last 5 meetings between these two teams played in the stadium ended with less than 3 goals
    – There are nearly 4 years after the last positive result from Espanyol against Barcelona in January 8, 2012, 1-1
    – After the visit of Barcelona for Espanyol ahead: Barcelona (d), Eibar (d) and Barcelona (a)
    – Costel Gâlcă Espanyol coach: I’m afraid we will not shatter. That does not worry me, because I trust my players that are connected and there are no problems. Barcelona undoubtedly is a very good team, but we will fight to make our
    ————————————————————————————–
    Barcelona
    – Barcelona ended 2015 in a style of great champion, succeeded to counter Betis 4-0
    – “Blau-grana” ranks first in the Primera Division with 38 points accumulated, tied with Atletico Madrid, but with a game less played
    – Luis Enrique’s squad are absent only Rafinha and Douglas, both of whom were injured for a long time
    – 12 of the last 14 games played for Barcelona in the Primera Division ended with at least 3 goals scored
    – Barcelona managed to score 2 goals in 8 minimum last 9 matches in Primera Division last team that escaped being charged with one goal Valencia
    – Luis Enrique’s players are unbeaten in their last 10 games against Espanyol
    – after the game against Espanyol, Barcelona will follow: Espanyol (a), Granada (a) and Espanyol (d)
    – Luis Enrique, Barcelona coach: It’s a derby and that means a lot to the fans, the key is a day for us. Victor Sanchez is an important player for Espanyol. We know him very well because it was made to us, but certainly all the players from Espanyol will be motivated in this match. Espanyol defend well, group, and we have to have a good day to beat them.
    ————————————————————————————-
    Probable teams :

Espanyol: Pau – Lopez, Roco, Gonzalez Duarte – Sanchez, Diop – Perez Moreno Asensio – Caicedo

    Unavailable: Sanchez Arbilla (uncertain)

Barcelona: Bravo – Dani Alves, Mascherano, Pique, Alba – Iniesta, Busquets, Rakitic – Messi, Suarez, Neymar

    Unavailable: Rafinha and Douglas (injured)

At first may seem a risky bet, given that we are talking match the best teams in the world, though I think we have a match with few goals.

Only 4 of the 17 matches played for Espanyol this season ended more than three goals, while only 2 of 7 trips Barcelona played this season ended with more than 3 goals.

Espanyol has one of the worst attacks in the Primera Division with just 16 goals in 17 matches, fewer than 1 goal per game.

On the other hand, Barcelona has a stellar attack, but away, his boys Luis Enrique managed to score only 12 goals, compared to the 28 scored at home.

So I am counting on a close match, where Espanyol will try to defend , for not getting more goals.

    Morning gents

Here’s what I’ve come up wih for today

    Motherwell v Hamilton KO 3pm

The steelmen can be extreamly pleased with their form over the last few weeks! They’ve won three on the spin against some quality oppostion and welcome a Hamilton side who are in free fall! I watched Motherwell defeat us 2-0 during the week – they played some good stuff and when confidance is high, it’s hard to oppose them against a side who look like could be occupying the relegation playoff spot very soon

Back Motherwell over 1.5 team goals 27/20 (Cora) (NAP)

    Fulham v Sheff Wednesday

Goals have been free flowing at the cottage this season and I see no reason that changing today! Wednesday will score as Fulhan just can’t keep a clean sheet, going forward though they are dangerous! Should see goals here with both sides contributing

Back over 2.5 match goals 5/6 (BV) (NB)

Carlise v Plymouth over 2.5 goals
    Barnsley v Millwall BTTS

    Double pays 21/10

    Stranraer v Ayr
    East Fife v Elgin
    Montrose v Arbroath

    Over 2.5 match goals treble

Chris Dagnall is just the type of player to give Hibernian the boost they need to finish off the season, from watching him at Barnsley he is the type of player we don’t have upfront
he is a grafter he never stops moving can hold the ball up.
he hasn’t been the most prolific goal scorer in his time but this is the Scottish Championship we are talking about and he will find the net regularly in this league and I can see him scoring today on his debut

After a disastrous last few months to 2015, my new years resolution was to stick to small stakes on crazy draw bets. Also I’m quitting online betting, I don’t have the disipline to bet responsibly like everybody else on here, its all paper bets from here on out. Of course I couldn’t help myself when in the bookies on Thu so put 50 on

    Bet 1 wdw market

    Leicester
    Preston
    Wallsall

    6.5/1

All 3 teams considering the fact they are at home, the opposition, and their home form looked overpriced to me.leicester are unbeaten in 5 with the only points being dropped against the 2 Manchester clubs, and while Bournemouth are playing ok they’ve only won 2/5 away games. Hardly inspiring against joint top.preston are unbeaten in 4/5 home games winning 3 and losing to the new manager effect of Blackburn, while Rotherham have lost 4/5 away games. Wallsall are also unbeaten in 5 at home, beating better sides such as Peterborough and Bradford while Rochdale have only won 1/5 away matches. I got on last nite so the prices may have changed a little

    Bet 2 wdw market

    Arsenal
    Burton
    Motherwell
    Falkirk
    Gillingham

Pays 15.5/1 both prices are bet 365
More bets to follow and I’m thinking bout starting a point system, solely for me to keep track. A mate had a go at me saying I can get bets up for fun but never seem to be up loads as I waste too much betting on nonsense I know nothing about. I’m going to stop that and hopefully a points system will help show how much I’m up. This is for me, and not because I want people to follow me. There are enough cracking tipsters on here to follow

Value bet from Cyprus Division 1
Anorthosis vs Omonia, Anorthosis win 4/5
Omonia’s coach will have only 16 players with him and 3 of them are goalkeepers, so that leaves only 3 players eligible for substitutions. Omonia has 5 key players suspended, 1 key player injured and another one out “ill” (he’s said to be one of the players to be let go in January). Only 8 players have played for a significant amount of time and 3-4 have had almost zero play time.

    First post here goes
Sheffield United vs Peterbrough over 2.5 goals Man utd vs Swansea over 2.5 goals and last but not least bury vs Fleetwood over 2.5 goals had a look at previous fixtures in these and last 3 have seen overs 6.79-1 bet 365 gl if anyone follows

  43. warktheline 8 years ago

Have to mention Southport today at home to struggling Wrexham. Home team have been on the up and just recently beaten Wrexham at the racecourse ground, a goal to nil! By all amounts Southport totally frustrated the hosts that day. Southport are a massive 11/5 to win.

  44. u2me413 8 years ago

Cant see Swansea getting a result today at Old Trafford myself and its not a game i will touch given both teams poor form,6/9 United homes have finished under 2.5 and united have only scored 3 goals last 5 homes,Swansea have only managed 2 goals last 6 lg games and just 1 goal last 4 aways 3 of which ended under 2.5 so the unders looks quite likely at around 4/6.Given Uniteds performance in last game, the vital need for a win or the manager is gone and the fact that Swansea have recorded just 1 win from 9 aways i like the look of United to win 1-0,2-0 or 3-1 priced at 5/4 Skybet. .

    Looking SUPERSINGLE value?
I like the look of over 2.5 @ 11/10 in the early game West Ham v Liverpool, last 5 meetings at Upton park between the 2 has produced 21 goals all going over 2.5 and 4/5 going over 3.5,you can also look at the fact that 9/11 meetings has also produced the same goals laden games.
Given the stats 11/10 skybet { may get better elsewhere} for over 2.5 looks very good value. GOOD LUCK

Ah cool. Best accent. Good luck with ur bets!!

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

kelly.d, you can’t do it this way. Firstly, I don’t think you should take all my Saturday bets because I don’t advise backing them all – and some are long shots put up solely because they’re asked for.
Secondly if you take them you have to go with my points and perm advice – otherwise they’re your bets.
The draws aren’t even included in my stats so this doesn’t reflect what I’ve put up.
Also with Greg he never advises an accumulator on his selections.

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

@mrfixit yeah im doing it as my own interpretation on the bets using yours and gregs, i usually do it this way in the past. im only doing low stakes of 5 on the home away accums and its only a saturday you post so many bets during the week its only 1 or 2 a day. i see the profit been made on mid weeks and doing all the Saturday bets is like everything else hope for a bit of luck to get the bank boosted.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

kelly.d, you need to stress it’s your interpretation – it might work for or against me.

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

i thought once people seen it they would know sorry about that, but if bank gets lower i will cut the selections i take and if its healthier i will do them. i done gregs tips the other day singles and doubles and an accum and he got full house it boosted my balance big time, thats why i take the chance but with only 5 or 10

  48. 8 years ago

    Hi

No disrespect but what’s all this staking plans about ? Simply place a bet – If it loses it loses we go on ??

People take it too seriously here they really do. You will never make it successfull and big by betting £20 to return £30.66

    • luke 8 years ago

Put ur betting plan up…and show us how it’s done then. No point put up negative comments without contributing with your success story

    • greaves 8 years ago

People have their own differing approaches as in all walks of life. As far I’m concerned discipline can only be a good thing when betting? Great to see everyone’s strategies be it for consistent profit long term or big winners.

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

thats an experiment im working on to see if i can make small steady profit if i could win 20-30 a day it adds up over the weeks months.sure i would like to win 100s a day but not gonna happen so small stakes in this plan

    • luke 8 years ago

I’d take 20-30 a day regular any day. Expect we won’t get reply back now. Ppl like that just like to moan. Or bring negativity….With out actually bringing something to the table themselves

Very true, some people think they know it all, the more people explaining their strategies the better, short term profit in the long term can prove successful, everyone is different.

    • -wato- 8 years ago

Being successful is just making any sort of profit from betting advising someone to bet big is ridiculous in my opinion the majority of people cannot and will not to that. Yes you may win big but you can also lose big which can lead to serious problems. Great to see people having plans to try and stick to on here and I hope it works out for them

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

wato, anyone who doesn’t have a betting plan is probably loser – and they won’t know how much they’re losing which makes it worse.
Anyway off to walk the dug before sitting down with Jeff and the boys.

Word of warning to people betting on my team AYR UNITED we’re in the midst of injury crisis and have lost 4 of our last 5 including 2 against our promotion rivals DUNFERMLINE. We have beat today’s opponents STRANRAER in the last 3 games but goals bets are probably the way to go.

these dundee derbys are brilliant.if only sky showed more spl games than the over rated premiership.

    • luke 8 years ago

Don’t think it would get the amount of viewers they expect. Like saying why don’t they play Ryman league games or even Sunday league over your local park. Always goals in them ?

    • jamesyboyhail 8 years ago

not just goals, its good old fashioned football.its fast attacking football with 2 teams getting stuck in.
you have to admit luke most premiership games on sky this year have been boring.only having a bet keeps you intrested.think their is too many foreign players in epl who want to play the game at a slow pace.

    • luke 8 years ago

No I agree mate. Over paid jokers alot in prem league. But it’s where the money is. That’s y they come here. Can’t I’d give my spurs ticket up to for a Dundee one though. Mind u lot cheaper I expect. Go to watch woking play now and then. That’s bloody 17 quid a game now. To watch part time players slipping over in a mud pit

    • jamesyboyhail 8 years ago

your right luke.prices of football now are a joke,i used to go to all my clubs games not now.£28 a ticket to watch mediocre players is robbery.i would rather spend it on a bet on a saturday now ha.
my cousin is a spurs season tkt holder at spurs,so i might travel up and take in a game later on in the year.gl to spurs for the rest of the season mate.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

Going for an Overs double today, I think…

    Vanarama National League North
    Fylde v Chorley KO 3pm

    Home: Fylde P11 O8 U3 F23 A13 Avg 3.3
Fylde have been O2.5 in 8 of last 9 games home and away, and O2.5 in 4 of last 5 homes.

    Away: Chorley P11 O9 U2 F20 A22 Avg 3.8
Chorley have been O2.5 in 9 of last 10 games home and away and O2.5 in all 5 of last 5 aways.

They’ve played in the same league for the last three seasons, and with Fylde at home, Over 2.5 goals came in last season, but a slight concern is not in either of the two prior to that. (On the other hand, with Chorley at home, it’s come in every time.)

    Over 2.5 goals is 4/9

    . . .

    Qatar Premier League
Al Rayyan v Al Karithiyath KO 3.45pm

    Home: Al Rayyan P8 O7 U1 F22 A8 Avg 3.8
Al Rayyan have been O2.5 in 9 of last 10 games home and away, and O2.5 in all 5 of last 5 homes.

    Away: Al Karithiyath P8 O7 U1 F12 A18 Avg 3.8
Al Karithiyath have been O2.5 in 8 of last 10 games home and away and O2.5 in 4 of last 5 aways.

With Al Rayyan at home, Over 2.5 goals has come in in each of the last four seasons.

    Over 2.5 goals is 19/40

That looks a tempting double, paying at just over 11/10

    . . .

    Good luck today, everybody!

  58. stuhugh1 8 years ago

    Mr F and Kelly D

Yous have backed Swansea DNB on one line, meaning they have to win or it will be void anyway.

And yous have also backed the draw on an acca, so if they win the acca will lose.

    Doesnt make any sense.

    Derby team/pre-match summary.

    Grant
    Christie/Keogh/Shackell/Warnock

    Thorne

    Butterfield/Johnson

    Russell/Martin/Ince

3 changes, out goes Hendrick, Bent and Weimann

The only surprise really is Hendrick dropped after his midweek goal, but putting in our strongest midfield battlers in Johnson/Butterfield/Thorne say’s we’re up for the fight.

This game does have the potential for lots of cards and I expect derby to get most of them. The market isn’t up yet, maybe 10 mins before kickoff, should be over 3.5 cards @ around 8/13 – 8/11.

Also, I am edging slightly in favour of a Middlsborough win, I hate to say it, but I feel it could be on the cards. I do think this game will be settled by just one goal if it doesn’t end up a draw.

Borough are playing a 4-2-3-1, whilst Derby a 4-3-3, I am also pleased to see Nugent on the bench, he likes scoring against Derby. Incidentally, Borough under there current manager have kept 50% match clean sheets.

I also like the look of total match goals of 2 or 3 priced at evens with bet365

    best of luck guys.

That is my own opinion though so good luck

    • stealth 8 years ago

The amount of each bet is irrelevant and relative to a persons available betting bank and the amount they are willing to lose. Whether it’s £1 or £100 doesn’t matter, it’s about enjoying a harmless bet and hopefully taking a few £’s off the bookies the process. Whether a casual bettor or one of the few who make a living from betting, ALL sensible and intelligent people should have a plan that they work to

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

bastino, you’ll do even better with a plan.
You have to bet with what you can afford to lose and for the majority of people that’s small amounts.

    • luke 8 years ago

Ppl bet wot they can afford. To question what ppl stakes just makes u look a fool. Had plenty ppl on ere before do that. And makes me wonder. If ppl put 100 lucky 15 on once a wk or 500 quid on a single. Which I’ve been in both category’s it’s there business. I personally couldn’t keep risking big stakes so I’ve cut it down. I know big hitters that don’t question my lower stakes and would laugh at ur judgements.

    • thfourteen 8 years ago

Yeah is is an odd comment to make.

I have a system that I’m working on for fun, so I keep a record of all the bets I make and tweaks I make to the system.

( yes I know systems don’t really work but that’s not the point)

A point for me is £5. The biggest win I’ve ever had is £67. I don’t really need the money from this, it keeps me entertained and I have a day job that pays a salary!

Also it’s useful to track how much money I lose on side bets vs the system, and I have accounts open at multiple bookies so never know what my bank is unless I do.

    • luke 8 years ago

luke, most people wouldn’t back Man Utd at that price and it wasn’t convincing.

I thought utd wernt bad odds at home to 4th from bottom of the league at 8/11. I bottled it bit by going dnb 1/6 to be honest. But swansea we never gonna win so swansea dnb was always gonna be a loss or void

    • luke 8 years ago

Def bout the goals. Unlike me to back wdw. With the amount out of debates I’ve had on ere. They r Def the most consistent….especially the way results r going lately

  95. dragoon 8 years ago

    @kelly-d

Just reading your comments from earlier, you can build up a big bank I did it from £200 starting bank. Mainly on Gregs and if I did from time to time pick out few from Mr F and accumulated them with Gregs.

Im sitting over 1500 starting bank now with gregs NAP coming in today. What i normally do as well is If I loose on Gregs Nap then on his next NAP I put enough money to cover my loss from the last one…and if it loose again then i cover both. with his success rate I ts not long before you make it all back. Im in a position to do that now because of my betting bank.

I always put 20 points on gregs unless im covering a loss on his lossing NAP. Hope that make sense…but just wanted to say small wins build your bank and then you can start putting bigger bets on as your bank grows.

Great start to the new year @gregbrowning

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

understand it fully, basically just want to build up the bank for the minute and after that i can have a look at raising the stakes a bit

    • luke 8 years ago

That’s the Martin gale system…which I’ve done myself. Can get dangerous if u have multiple losses. And each bet must be evens or over

  96. luke 8 years ago

    Go on watford

  97. luke 8 years ago

Everyone is just handing the league to gooners

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

luke, I think Spurs will win tomorrow and they’ll be in the mix.

    • kelly.d 8 years ago

2-1 cmon city get another one

  98. dragoon 8 years ago

Yeah Luke. I couldn’t do that at first but with the betting back of over 1000 its doable on 20 points. and with Greg getting 9 NAP on the go that was a massive boost. Yeah most of Gregs Nap have been around Evans its been a few up and downs but over the month it all levels out.

Its worked out really good so far for me.

Most important thing has been consistency on doing all the NAPS. I’m sure people that keep commenting on here saying it can’t be done are just jumping on Gregs NAPS here and there…cant pick and choose.

    All the best to everyone.

    • luke 8 years ago

Na I agree…its the only way to guarantee continuous profit is with the Martin gale system. Done it few times myself….With footy and horses. Can be great. Done really well with the horses. But got to squeeze bum time few times. Where u need to put grand on just to win ton profit. But if you’ve got a great starting bank can be profitable. And helps like if u go on good run at start like u did. Other way for the start can get dangerous. Good luck though mate. I’m sure this will bring up the debate bout the system again. Guy on ere used to do it. But don’t think it went to well

  99. luke 8 years ago

    Is there a bet….
Which Manchester manager out 1st? Lol

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

luke, Pellegrini will be away at the end of the season, we already know that, with Pep probably coming in.
Van Gaal needs a run of results to save his job so he’d be the favourite.

    • luke 8 years ago

Yeh but van gal before or after?? Zat is ze question

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

luke, probably before unless there is a massive improvement. Anyway City have won.
