I'VE largely left Chilean domestic football alone in recent months and tend to find the matches offer better value as the seasonal campaigns draw to a close but there’s one Copa Chile game that catches my eye this evening.
Interesting match-up this one as Segunda Division (3rd tier) hosts Independiente take on recently-promoted Curico who now play in the top flight after a successful campaign out of the 2nd tier Primera B.
Neither side are setting the world alight but it’s the goals in recent games that are drawing me in – both teams have netted in 100% of the hosts' last 6 games with 50% of those seeing 4 or more goals. Of Curico’s last 8 games, 7 have seen both sides netting with 6 of those 8 seeing btts and overs click into place.
I can see the hosts trying to get a decent result on home soil ahead of the 2nd leg but that offensive approach could be difficult with such a leaky defence and might just lead to a more open game and one in which goals could feature at a reasonable price.
INDEPENDIENTE v CURICÓ UNIDO (8.30pm)
Also on the hunt for Icelandic goals. There are three 1 Deild games kicking off at 8.15pm and nothing to suggest we won’t see action in each.
