On behalf of the MrFixItTips team, sorry for the inconvenience of the website not being up over the last couple of days. There has been a few technical issues, so hopefully, they're all sorted now and we can get back to having the regular horse racing chat.
Rizzel's tips
Supreme Commander 7/1 – Wincanton 12.45
If the money arrives for Supreme Commander as it did on his handicap debut on his first start in 309 days, then that would be very interesting. It's crazy to think that this horse is running off a mark of 75 and has shown very little in his career to date, but I still think they could be hiding something with this horse as I think he could easily be much better now he's tackling fences.
When this horse was chucked into a Grade 2 on his first start over hurdles, after a PU display in a Hunters' Chase, I thought connections must think they had a half-decent horse. His PTP form at the time read very well as he was only a couple of lengths behind Weveallbeencaught who had won a Graded hurdle race the season before for the Twiston-Davies yard, so to say this horse has shown nothing since that PTP run and is now rated 75 is quite remarkable.
Obviously, there is talent with this horse, he wouldn't have finished as close as he did to a decent horse if he was useless. Now back over fences for the first time in a few years, I'm hoping that will spark the fire to show there is something under the bonnet. The fact that there was strong money for him last time out suggests there is confidence in the Anthony Charlton camp, and I'll take a chance on him on his second run of the season.
Lady Pretender 5/1 – Wincanton 1.15
Backing horses I've recently stuck up hasn't been too kind to me in recent weeks, but I've got to give the Venetia Williams-trained Lady Pretender another chance as I don't think she was fully revved up for her run at Warwick.
She didn't jump anywhere near as good as I hoped for, but it was her first start of the season and her first start over fences in a long time since she ran in France before coming to Venetia's yard. She has been dropped 4lbs for that performance at Warwick, which could be a very big overreaction by the handicappers, but it will surely help, as will having Charlie Deutsch in the saddle. In my opinion, Charlie Deutsch is the best jockey over fences in the UK, the way he gets horses into a rhythm and jumping brilliantly is a talent and there's nobody better than him.
The yard remains in great form, with a 22% SR in the last fortnight, so I'm expecting a much better run than the one we saw nearly a month ago.
