We didn't have a runner on Wednesday as he was a non-runner.

Klic Boum 9/4 – Plumpton 1.08

I was never the biggest fan of backing horses from the Evan Williams stable, and since his wife has taken over as the main trainer, I'm guessing nothing will have changed. They are very much a gambling yard, and you know what will happen more often than not if you look at the market movements. This means backing their horses is always riskier than normal, but I am willing to side with a few quid to take a chance on Klic Boum.

Klic Boum made an encouraging start to life over fences after not delivering much over hurdles. He finished second eight days ago, and was behind a 122-rated horse who was previously rated in the 140s. He was held up over two miles at Newton Abbot and was keeping on strongly at the line, which makes me believe that today's longer trip will suit.

I think it is a matter of time before Marlacoo gets his act together, but he has become very expensive to back. He has gone off favourite or joint favourite for the last twelve races, and he has only won on one of those occasions. Based on that, you have to take him on, especially on his chasing debut. Sweet Caryline is definitely the one to be scared of, as she made a promising start over fences last time out, and the yard is flying at the moment.

Bel Ombre 6/5 – Plumpton 2.22

I didn't expect Bel Ombre's price to be as short as it is, and I did think that Kdeux Saint Fray was going to be the favourite, but that's not the case.

This race is a tougher race than the Worcester race that he won, but the manner in which he won, considering it was on his chasing debut, was very impressive. I really like when horses get a very positive ride on their chasing debut, because it shows that they are ahead of their handicap mark, and that they are a strong jumper. Bel Ombre won the Worcester race by 11L, and the runner-up has ran to an RPR which was +7 to his rating at the time, and then ran to a +9 on his next run. Even though it doesn't look like very strong form, I think it looks decent against the likes of Rip Wheeler and Jaipaletemps.

The one to worry about is the Honeyball runner, but I think he needs a softer surface.
