Saturday was much better, and to walk away from the York Ebor Festival with two winners and one placed horse on the final day was nice.

Skukuza kicked the day off with a place. He was far too keen in the early stages, so the fact that he finished as close as he did is impressive. Don't give up on him just yet.

Never So Brave managed to land the inaugural Group 1 over 7f for the older horses in the UK. He relished the fast pace, got into contention and then sealed the deal with his added stamina from over a mile.

Revival Power wasn't as strong in the betting as I thought she would be. That didn't matter as she showed an immense level of speed to get to the lead. York has been hard to make the running all week, and even when she got headed, she battled back to win. Smart horse, and keep an eye out for her next year in the Nunthorpe. If the ground is fast, and if she can mature physically over the winter, she is going to be a huge player.

Hopefully, you all had a better week at York than I did and landed winners throughout the week.

Outfielder 15/2 (1pt, most firms apart from 365) – Deauville 2.50

In terms of Group 1 races for juveniles, this renewal is probably the best you could ask for. We have two Royal Ascot winners and two Royal Ascot placed horses, as well as a French and a US runner.

I think Gstaad is a very good horse, and I think he has bags of potential going forward and might even be good enough to win a 2000 Guineas somewhere. I tipped him up at Royal Ascot, so it's strange to desert him for another horse, but Wesley Ward has a good record in this race. For that reason, as well as Outfielder being impressive on debut, he is my pick.

We all know what Wesley Ward horses do. They break from the stalls like a bat out of hell and show lightning pace. The question which always has to be answered is whether they can keep up the gallop and do they have the stamina. This lad might be able to make it a third win in this race for the American trainer. His pedigree gives plenty of hope that this extra furlong isn't going to be an issue for him, as both sides of the pedigree suggest a mile in the future.

He has plenty of speed and hasn't been raced since his debut win in May. I'm not sure if he's had a setback or if they've put him away for this race specifically, but at 8/1 or similar odds, he is a good price.

Considering Wesley Ward won this with No Nay Never and Lady Aurelia, it's fair to say he likes to send his better horses to Deauville. Fingers crossed, Outfielder is another name who could become a superstar.
