TALAP (7.15) is a worthy favourite in the one-mile Nursery at Wolverhampton this evening.

Roger Varian's colt failed by a head to get off the mark in the Windsor mud last time but his previous third at Redcar received a huge boost yesterday when his conqueror Convict hosed up by four lengths at Newmarket. Talap is nicely drawn in stall three.

FUTURISTIC (6.00) looked a horse to follow when winning at Newcastle last week and is fancied to overcome a 6lb penalty stepping up another furlong at Chelmsford City.

The son of Shamardal didn’t appear badly treated on a mark of 75 for his handicap debut at Newcastle, an observation not lost on those shrewd punters who backed James Tate’s colt into 2-1 favourite. There was never a worry as P J McDonald took his mount to the front over a furlong out and Futuristic fairly stretched clear in the manner of a horse that would stay further.

Futuristic chased home Brushwood at Newcastle at the end of September, with MOMENT OF SILENCE (7.00) well held in fourth. Saeed bin Suroor's three-year-old should have benefited from that debut effort and Moment Of Silence can go close in the Novice Stakes for fillies.

Afternoon all, how bin ya? Another good day yesterday, 14/1, 5/1 winners and a nice 16/1 2nd.

Teddy Boy 14/1 tipped and advised Tuesday afternoon, another big fresh juicy Golden Apple to chuck on this money producing ‘free cart’. Heard a rumour, still wearing blue suede shoes and bopping the night away.

Larkbarrow Lad 5/1 Dickie Jonhson does the bizz in the big race at Worcester.

Fejoada 16/1 guaranteed place finishes 2nd to the odds-on JOLLY, paying 3.2/1.

Early on for tomorrow, 4.45 D Alfred Boucher 7/1 HILLS first show.

This looks wide open, a fact likely to be endorsed by the betting. Sandret had the proverbial ton in hand despite only beating Sorting by a length over C&D 6 weeks ago, though the runner-up is now 5lb better off and the winner has plenty to prove on the going. Conditions could also be too testing for Godolphin runner Passion And Glory, while Dark Lochnagar has raced over longer trips since winning at Chester in the summer on easy ground. My selection didn’t appear to cope with a further 6lb rise at Sandown when on a 4-timer, but softer ground will be in his favour.

    Be Lucky.

      3.10 C Smarty Wild 8/1.

The Big Galloper was all all out to win a Roscommon maiden last month and may struggle to follow up in the first handicap of the new season on this exacting course. Liosduin Bhearna, Breaking Waves and my selection were all making giant strides in the Spring. He should relish a further step up in trip this season. The Champ Jockey takes over the reins and P Hobbs 5-year-old can extend his winning-run. The biggest danger might be the locally-trained Tedham. The 5-year-old wasn’t disgraced behind Al Dancer and Getaway in novices hurdles last year. His 2 efforts in Handicap Company have also been pleasing.

It’s a very fierce-competitive Handicap with 10/19 have a very good chance of winning.

      4.35 N Teruntum Star 20/1 E/W LADS. Most firms paying 4.

Taking a chance here, but very good value at 20’s BET365 is 12/1. Often seen at his best this time of year, and is very interesting now up to his preferred 6f following an encouraging run in the Catterick Dash.

ALFRED BOUCHER … hope he wins for you Mel but I wrote a little more in depth stuff for punters to consider.

Bentley is on for a spare ride. He doesn’t ride for Candy often and I checked all of Candy’s recent winners/placed horses and Harry wasn’t on any of them, numerous jockies have been on him but never Bentley.

The horse failed off this mark in a lesser grade, from his 3 timer, there isn’t really any strong form from those he beat and he is also upped 2 furlongs, which he has never ran over.

One positive I found is Bentley had a double on this card last year.

You say the ground isnt likely to suit the Godolphin horse, it’s only run with soft in the description once, a 16 runner field, over the same distance, and it won.. beating some useful types including EL MISK (won off 87, 2nd twice off 94 in a class 2 and 3), the third won his next race.

On debut over this distance the Godophin horse was 0.5l behind in 2nd, the winner has won his only start since. The third was HAMISH, won his last two starts off 92 and 98 in class 2s. the 5 horses imediately behind have come out and won or finished 2nd so a bit silly to discount based on ground concerns alone i feel.

Dark Lochnager has a soft victory to his name over this distance, he is 5lbs above that win, I think the fact he has been tried over a few furlongs further means next to nothing when trying to write him off, owners dont try to win every race, not throwing my eggs in this basket but he is also entered over a similar distance 5 days later in a class 2 race.. which suggest he has been trained for this distance recently.

The early going report for Doncaster tomorrow is Good to Soft so it isn’t exactly likely to be bottomless, although rain is expected from midday.

Also a question for you.. you’ve ridiculed people for betting on favs and short priced things, with over 30 races daily to choose from and in your words.. a wide open race, can you enlighten me as to why you’ve chosen this race since it seems more of a punt than a well refined judgement call.

database, bit of both I guess. I like the form unlucky last time out carrying to much weight. Backed a few times so has done me a couple of favours in the past. I don’t if you ever noticed mate, I do tend to back horse’s I have backed in past and stick with them.

Studying and reading all the tipsters sites they are a few all over it. I think the ground will suit, and will finish the season in style. Like I also said betting will play big part in the outcome, Alfred moved 1 point into 6’s, Passion still rock solid at 9/2. Dark is 20’s with BET365, Sandret as come in 1/2 point 9/2 with same firm but 13/2 with PP. Big move on Modakhar 8’s into 5’s SKY but 7’s with PP. Wide open race wide open in the betting. Hope this as helped.

he carries 1lb more today so not sure of your logic there, although a flatter race track may be less taxing on him.

i do analyse late market movements but thats about it, i have found the most likely winner is drifted, whilst a false fav is made and another horse is made to appear as the money horse, all smoke and mirrors.

you often post a horse with ”was 20s now 12s” and they dont often turn up IMO, and this is shown with a few of your bigger winners than tend to drift, such as the massive 40/1 rollardice.

      keep up the good work
