I find it strange how yesterday's race cut up and two horses became non-runners (can't exactly blame the ground, with it being on the AW). As a result, the race turned into a bit of a mess as there was no projected pace and they went at a snail's pace around Kempton, which wasn't going to suit Picual who seemed strong at the line over 10f, so a good gallop would've been necessary. In scenarios like that I question why the jockey doesn't take the initiative and try and set a good pace, but who am I to question arguably the best jockey in my generation in Ryan Moore?

Yarmouth 4:30

This race does look very competitive, which is normally a point where you swerve the race, however, the odds available on ZIM BABY have lured me into backing her each way.

In recent times I have gone for avoiding horses who have to bounce back to form, as it is often a risk and it rarely pays off, but I'm willing to give a chance to this mare who on her day is a good handicapper and arguably a lot better than this field. She is currently rated 83, which is 78 when you take off the 5lb claim off from Frederick Larson, who is a very capable young apprentice attached to the Mick Appleby yard. That rating is extremely attractive considering she won off a mark of 85 earlier this season and was competitive off around 90 in the middle of 2021.

The ground will dry out slightly, but will probably remain on the slow side of good, which is fine for this horse as she has won on soft before. I think she is best when she sits in a prominent position, so fingers crossed she can get a good break from the stalls and sit handy behind the pace. I think the break away from the racetrack could be a benefit to her as she didn't really have much time between her races this year, and at the age of 5, though it's not an old age, it should help her recover and potentially spark her enthusiasm for racing which could've been lost in her busy schedule.

At odds of around 11/1, I think she is worth a small chance, and if she bounces back to anything like her previous best, she could definitely cause an upset in this contest.

Redcar 2:53

I can probably see why people will think HELLO DEIRA is a shorter price than she should be, but with only three runs under his belt he deserves another chance now he tackles handicaps.

He has been beaten as a favourite two times in a row, which is never encouraging but I think the race where he was turned over as 2/7F, could turn into a fairly decent race with the Clive Cox winner producing an RPR of 89 on debut, which is normally a good indicator that he is going to be a good horse as horses from that yard normally need a run, so the fact he was so impressive suggests he is one to follow. So, in my opinion, though his reputation might have taken a dent, I think it can be overlooked.

On his last start I think it showed how much he needs a longer trip, so it's no surprise to see them upping him to 7f on handicap debut. Similar comments apply to before and I think the race could work out better than what it looks like on face value.

The fact that Owen Burrows sends him all the way to Redcar is almost seen to be a tip in itself. Owen is shrewd as anything when it comes to placing his horses, he does remarkably well when you consider the size of his yard, so sending one to Yorkshire when he could've potentially found a race closer to home suggests they aren't going there for the fun of it.

    11-8 top 2 finish SKYBET.

1st time chaser who was in my opinion best of these as a hurdler.
Was consistent in good hurdle races but not run for 11 months hence the place bet option.

      Fort Erie -R2…Mr Crowley 11/4
A horse that started off a winning Yankee and is less exposed than others but 11/4,will improve but deserves a crack a Stakes level.

That would have been my whack but “KENTUUKEY” finishes tonight after a rained off Sunday?
I’d been KOd by then, they had to leave out some good racing that go tonight so few extras including G3 race that has a nice Godolphin horse.

Kentucky -R1…Kept Waiting 11/2(Ortiz Jnr still there and waits patiently for this who was 8/1)
R3…American Starlet. 4/1(close to being Nb that’s all)
R8..Adventuring. 11/4(* Nb Brad Cox with a fast improving Godolphin colt here and Joel Rosario 2nd at the meeting only to Ortiz Jnr but really it’s the yard and Godolphin never mind jockey but it doesn’t hurt.
